"We came seeking knowledge of the Jedi Code. The Flesh Raiders interrupted our trial."
"Never fought like that in my life. We killed it, but Jerridan was badly injured."

Avitla was a Human female member of the Jedi Order who undertook her Jedi Trials as a Padawan on the planet Tython during the Cold War. Around 3643 BBY, she accompanied fellow Padawans Mennaus and Jerridan to the Tythonian Gnarls to seek knowledge of the Jedi Code, but they were interrupted by native Flesh Raiders.

The trio fought and killed one Flesh Raider, although Jerridan was badly wounded. Although Avitla wished to keep fighting till the group's trial was finished, another Padawan arrived and told them to return to safety, giving them a signal beacon to summon a speeder.

Biography

"But we're so close to finishing the trial…"
"No. We are not. I see you have a signal beacon. Leave it for us, and as soon as we have gathered our things, we will signal for a ride back."

Avitla, Mennaus, and Jerridan managed to kill a Flesh Raider.

Avitla was a Force-sensitive Human who served in the Jedi Order as part of the Galactic Republic during its Cold War against the Sith Empire.[1] Around 3643 BBY,[2] Avitla was training as a Padawan on Tython, the homeworld of the Jedi. As part of her Jedi Trials, she accompanied fellow Padawans Mennaus and Jerridan into the Tythonian Gnarls region to seek knowledge of the Jedi Code.[1]

The trio's trials were interrupted when they were attacked by Tython's native Flesh Raiders. Having not recieved combat training, the three Padawans fought a lone Flesh Raider near the Tythos River Delta and killed them, although Jerridan was badly injured during the battle. While Mennaus tended to Jerridan's injury, Avitla suggested they keep fighting until their trials were complete. Mennaus disgreed, but confirmed that he could help Jerridan along if Avitla was determined to keep going.[1]

Avitla wished to keep fighting despite Jerridan's injury.

While Mennaus tended to Jerridan, they were approached by a Padawan who had been sent to find them by Jedi Master Relnex, a watchman at the nearby Jedi training grounds. Avitla and Mennaus explained their situation and Avitla asked the Padawan to aid them in fighting the Flesh Raiders. The Padawan refused and told the three Padawans that they needed to return to safety, giving them a signal beacon that Relnex had provided so that they could summon a rescue speeder for transport out of the Gnarls. Avitla was angered by this given how close she felt they were to the end of the trial, but Mennaus persuaded her to accept their best chance at survival and took the beacon.[1]

Personality and traits

"Training or not, a bunch of animals won't keep us from becoming Jedi."

Avitla considered the Flesh Raiders animals and was angered by their attack, determined to seek vengance and push on to finish her trials despite Jerridan's injuries. Confident that she and her colleagues could take on the Flesh Raiders, she believed that Jedi never gave up and that even if she, Mennaus, and Jerridan did die, that they would do so with pride. Avitla had black hair, brown eyes, and dark skin.[1]

Equipment

"How's he looking?"
"He should be resting in the Jedi Temple. But if you're determined to press on… I can help him along."
"Give him the last of the kolto if you have to. We'll fight again soon."

While in the Gnarls, Avitla wore yellow and brown Jedi robes with a white trim as well as a white sash belt and brown boots. She carried a training saber and had access to medicinal kolto.[1]

Behind the scenes

"Here's what we need, then—if you can take the Flesh Raiders head-on, we can come around and flank them. When you're finished, let the watchman at camp know we're coming back. It just may take us a while…"
―Avitla's dialgoue if players chose the Dark Side option and helps her — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

Avitla appeared in the quest "Early Lessons" in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, released by BioWare in 2011. Only players of the Jedi Knight or Jedi Consular class may take the quest and refusing to aid the Padawans in fighting the Flesh Raiders is considered the Light Side option. While this article assumes players took the Light Side option, there is also the Dark Side option to agree to help Avitla by taking on the Flesh Raiders head on while Avitla, Mennaus, and Jerridan flank them. Chosing this options leads to the player killing ten Flesh Raiders and destroying three sets of their supplies. When the player reports this to Relnex they can warn the watchman that the trio of Padawans will be coming back angry.[1]

SWTOR mini STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Question ! :) - Page 3 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) places Star Wars: The Old Republic about ten to twelve years after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, which is dated to 3653 BBY by Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. The Old Republic — The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
