Lightsaber training staffs were staffs used in the place of real lightsabers by Jedi Padawans who had not yet constructed their own blades. The Human Jedi Initiate Petro practiced with a training staff while he was on board the Jedi training cruiser Crucible, deflecting shots from a Marksman-H combat remote and then showing his fellow trainees an original move he had created named the "Whirlwind of Destiny."[1]
Behind the scenes
Lightsaber training staffs first appeared in 2012 in A Test of Strength, the seventh episode of the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the script for which was written by Christian Taylor. The staffs were also mentioned in the Episode gallery for the episode on StarWars.com.
