- "But we're so close to finishing the trial…"
"No. We are not. I see you have a signal beacon. Leave it for us, and as soon as we have gathered our things, we will signal for a ride back." - ―Avitla and Mennaus
Mennaus was a Zabrak male who served as a Jedi Padawan during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Around 3643 BBY, they accompanied fellow Padawans Jerridan and Avitla in seeking information about the Jedi Code in the Tythonian Gnarls region of the planet Tython.
The group's trials were then interrupted by a Flesh Raider attack and Jerridan was injured when the trio killed one of the agressors. As Mennaus tended Jerridan's wounds, Avitla proposed that they keep fighting, but another Padawan arrived and agreed with Mennaus that the group should return to safety, giving the Zabrak a signal beacon to summon a speeder.
Biography
- "We came seeking knowledge of the Jedi Code. The Flesh Raiders interrupted our trial."
"Never fought like that in my life. We killed it, but Jerridan was badly injured." - ―Mennaus and Avitla
Mennaus tended to Jerridan's wounds after their fight with a Flesh Raider.
Mennaus was a Force-sensitive Zabrak male who joined the Jedi Order and served as a Padawan in the Galactic Republic during its Cold War with the Sith Empire.[1] Around 3643 BBY,[2] they undertook their Jedi Trails on the planet Tython, where the Zabrak accompanied the Padawans Jerridan and Avitla to the Tythonian Gnarls region to seek knowledge of the Jedi Code without their Masters.[1]
In the Gnarls, the trio's trials were interrupted by an attack by the Flesh Raiders native to Tython. Although they all lacked combat training, the three Padawans managed to kill a Flesh Raider, although Jerridan was badly injured in the process. As Mennaus tended to the wounded Jedi, Avitla propossed that they keep fighting to complete their trials. Although Mennaus disagreed, they told her that they could help Jerridan along should they continue.[1]
Mennaus did not wish to continue fighting the Flesh Raiders in the Tythonian Gnarls after Jerridan was injured.
A Jedi Padawan with combat training then approached the trio, having been sent to the Gnarls to search for them by Jedi Master Relnex, a watchman at the nearby Jedi training grounds. After Avitla and Mennaus informed the new arrival about what had happened to them, Avitla asked the Padawan to help them fight the Flesh Raiders and continue their trials. Mennaus objected and the Padawan agreed that the three Padawans needed to return to safety. They then handed the Zabrak a signal beacon that Relnex had provided so that they could summon a rescue speeder for transport out of the Gnarls. After convincing Avitla that it was time to go, Mennaus told the Padawan they would leave as soon as they had gathered their things.[1]
Personality and traits
- "It is not the Jedi way to seek battle and revenge while a man suffers."
- ―Mennaus
Mennaus disagreed with Avitla's wish to seek vengance on the Flesh Raiders, beliving that it was not the Jedi to seek vengance or to prioritise battle while their comrade was injured. The Zabrak had tan skin, brown hair, and brown eyes.[1]
Equipment
- "How's he looking?"
"He should be resting in the Jedi Temple. But if you're determined to press on… I can help him along."
"Give him the last of the kolto if you have to. We'll fight again soon." - ―Avitla and Mennaus discuss Jerridan
While in the Gnarls, Mennaus wore brown Jedi robes with a white trim and a white sash belt. The Zabrak also had green boots, a training saber, and had access to medicinal kolto.[1]
Behind the scenes
Mennaus appeared in the quest "Early Lessons" in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, released by BioWare in 2011. Only players of the Jedi Knight or Jedi Consular class may take the quest and refusing to aid the Padawans in fighting the Flesh Raiders is considered the Light Side option. While this article assumes players took the Light Side option, there is also the Dark Side option to agree to help Avitla by taking on the Flesh Raiders head on while Avitla, Mennaus, and Jerridan flank them. Chosing this options causes Mennaus to simply say "May the Force be with you" to the player, who then has to kill ten Flesh Raiders and destroy three sets of their supplies. When the player reports this to Relnex they can warn the watchman that the trio of Padawans will be coming back angry.[1]

STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Question ! :) - Page 3 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) places Star Wars: The Old Republic about ten to twelve years after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, which is dated to 3653 BBY by Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. The Old Republic — The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
