- "Our response is not enough. I want to send a team to Zallo. To follow Chief Tarpfen's lead."
"Not at this time." - ―Avar Kriss and Stellan Gios
Zallo was an astronomical object located in the Zallo system of the Outer Rim's Tamarin sector. In 231 BBY, after obtaining intel that stated the Nihil pirates were massing in the Soola system, Jedi marshal Avar Kriss requested to Jedi High Council Member Stellan Gios that she be allowed take a team to Zallo to follow the lead. Gios, however, turned down the request.
In 228 BBY, the Nihil expanded its Stormwall hyperspace barrier, leaving Zallo located within the pirates' territory known as the Occlusion Zone. Later that year, the Occlusion Zone was dissolved following the Stormwall's fall.
Description
Zallo was an astronomical object[2] located in the Zallo system within the Tamarin sector of the Outer Rim Territories. It was situated in grid square N-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] A hyperspace route linked Zallo to the Langsha-Raang and Sag Kemper systems.[2]
History
Avar Kriss (right) wanted to send a team to Zallo, but was refused by Stellan Gios (left).
In 231 BBY,[4] the Mon Calamari Ghal Tarpfen—who served as chief of security of[3] the Outer Rim Galactic Republic[5] space station Starlight Beacon—intercepted communications. After they were decoded by[3] her[5] team, Tarpfen learned the comms contained intel that the Nihil pirates—who the Republic and Jedi Order were in conflict with—were assembling in[3] the Outer Rim's[2] Soola system. When later presented during a meeting between the Jedi stationed on Starlight Beacon and Jedi High Council Member Stellan Gios, Gios dismissed the idea as the area had been checked by a Unified Republic Task Force several times. In response, the human Jedi marshal Avar Kriss argued the Order's response to the Nihil had not been enough, and that[3] she[5] wanted to send a team to Zallo to follow up on Tarpfen's lead. The Counil Member rejected Kriss' request, and informed the Jedi of Starlight Beacon to remain there and await further instructions.[3]
Zallo became situated in the Occlusion Zone.
The following year, the Nihil created the Occlusion Zone—a region of space located behind the Stormwall barrier that prevented hyperspace travel into the region.[5] In 228 BBY,[6] the Nihil expanded the Stormwall after a failed Republic and Jedi assault on the barrier,[7] which resulted in Zallo falling within the Nihil's territory.[2] Later that year,[8] the Nihil surrendered to the Republic following the Stormwall's fall, which dissolved the Occlusion Zone as a territory. The worlds of the Occlusion Zone,[9] which included Zallo,[2] were welcomed back into the Republic if they wished. However, some opted to retain their independence, while others remained under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[9]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As
Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic: Defy the Storm between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
