- "The Imperial Navy have claimed another victory in the war against the ruthless rebellion, taking out a capital ship in the Altyr system. Commander Folimar stated the battle is a brisk reminder of the Empire's superior force."
- ―Dorna Parros, HoloNet News
The Altyr system was a star system located in the Morshdine sector of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories.[2] It fell within grid square O-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and shared its name[3] with the Altyr 5 Light Freighter Race.[4] In 3 ABY,[5] as part of the Galactic Civil War, the Imperial Navy destroyed a capital ship belonging to the Alliance to Restore the Republic in the system. Commander Folimar called the battle a "reminder of the Empire's superior force compared to the rebels," which was quoted in coverage of the battle by reporter Dorna Parros on the HoloNet News.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Altyr system was mentioned in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws.[3] The system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, the 1998 expansion for[6] the 1997 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.[7]
