"Will you eliminate the Jedi with me? Or will you die as a Jedi? What's the matter? Take that lightsaber and give me an answer."
―Shad-Rah, to F[4]

F's lightsaber was a yellow-bladed lightsaber with a thin, curved blade that was used by the Jedi Padawan F. During the Imperial Era, F used her lightsaber to cut off the hand of the raider Izuma, who was holding Haru, a resident of Meevai Village on the planet Keelia, at blaster-point.

When F later surrendered herself to the Galactic Empire after the refugee ship she was aboard was intercepted by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Oppressor, the refugee Ron pretended to capture her and gave her lightsaber to an Imperial officer. F was brought to meet her former master, Shad-Rah Varcanella, who returned her lightsaber to her. F used her lightsaber to duel him, and although he cut off her feet and one arm, F used a vial of carbonite to freeze him.

Description

F's lightsaber was a yellow-bladed lightsaber used by F, a Jedi Padawan of the Jedi Order.[1] The lightsaber had a rectangular black hilt. The base of the hilt and the guard were gray. The hilt was decorated and had a small red circle near the top on both sides, beneath which was a blue pattern. When activated, the guard separated horizontally and produced a ring of plasma around it that was the same color as the blade. The single blade was thin and curved to a point.[2] The lightsaber was powered by a kyber crystal.[3]

History

"What are you? Some kind of a monster?"
"I am a Jedi."
―Izuma and F, before she ignites her lightsaber[2]

During the Imperial Era, F attended the wedding of Asu and Haru, residents of Meevai Village on the planet[2] Keelia.[5] The next day, a battle occurred after Haru gave herself up as a hostage to the raider Izuma. After most of[2] his[6] forces were defeated, Izuma grabbed Haru and held a blaster to her. F, who was standing some distance away, raised[2] her[1] lightsaber and ignited it while facing Izuma. She then held the lightsaber so that its blade pointed behind her, and after a few moments, she rushed toward Izuma, using a device in her shoe to propel her forward, and cut off his hand holding the blaster with her lightsaber. Izuma collapsed, and F remained crouched behind him and Haru while holding her lightsaber, which she deactivated soon after.[2]

F used her lightsaber to block Shad-Rah's attack.

Later, F was aboard a refugee ship along with refugees she had rescued on the planet Inoli. When the ship was intercepted by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Oppressor, F surrendered herself and traveled to the Star Destroyer along with the refugee Ron aboard his Sheathipede-class transport shuttle. Upon arriving in the Oppressor's hangar, Ron handed F's lightsaber to an Imperial officer, pretending he had captured F for a reward. The officer took the lightsaber and looked at it, then had stormtroopers bring F to a room aboard the Oppressor to meet with Shad-Rah Varcanella, her former master who was working with the Empire under the name Zero. Zero asked F to rejoin him as his apprentice, and a pillar rose from the floor between them, with its top opening to reveal F's lightsaber. Zero again asked F to join him, demanding she take her lightsaber and give him an answer.[4]

Although F refused to fight her former master, Zero ignited his own lightsaber to strike at her, and F Force-pulled her lightsaber to herself to block his attack. While holding her lightsaber in one hand, F evaded several more strikes from Zero and leapt back without attacking. F again refused her former master's request and then held her blade poised behind her. The two charged each other, with F doing a flip before leaping into the air to strike at Zero,[4] who anticipated the attack[7] and cut off F's right arm and feet, causing her lightsaber to fall to the floor. However, F was able to place a vial of carbonite on his shoulder, which froze him, and she was then rescued by Ron and escaped with him on his shuttle.[4]

Proposals for F's lightsaber

F's lightsaber first appeared in "The Village Bride," a short film directed by Hitoshi Haga and released as part of the first volume of the non-canon Star Wars: Visions series. The animated short, produced by Kinema Citrus Co., was released on Disney+[2] on September 22, 2021.[8] The weapon was identified in The Art of Star Wars: Visions, a 2022 reference book by Zack Davisson. The lightsaber was designed by Takeshi Takakura, who was proud of his design and stated that it turned out perfect.[1]

F's lightsaber has a distinct Japanese sword motif,[1] inspired by the Mandalorian Darksaber.[9] Unlike traditional lightsabers, it has a thin blade like a katana.[1] Haga was also inspired by the image of ninja swords in the works of manga artist Sanpei Shirato, including Kamui and Sasuke, which resulted in the lightsaber being shorter and straighter than other Japanese swords.[9] The yellow color of the blade is similar to the lightsaber used by[1] the Jedi[10] Rey in[1] the 2019 film[10] The Rise of Skywalker. At time of the short's release, yellow lightsabers were rarely depicted onscreen and were mostly wielded by Jedi Temple Guards.[1] Haga decided to have F use a yellow lightsaber because he thought she was in a similar position to a Jedi Temple Guard.[11] The Art of Star Wars: Visions noted that some say that yellow lightsabers represent a desire to seek balance between knowledge and action.[1] Haga said that the lightsaber was there to support the story, but it was really about loving nature.[12]

Multiple proposals for the design of the lightsaber were created, including one with a bent hilt and designs with different hilt patterns and colors.[1] F's lightsaber also appeared in "The Lost Ones," a sequel to "The Village Bride" produced by Kinema Citrus and released on Disney+ as part of the third volume of Visions[4] on October 29, 2025.[13] Shiori Tani created a piece of concept art for the lightsaber that was included in the short's accompanying episode guide.[14]
