A guard was typically an object or device installed onto a weapon to protect a person's hand from something dangerous. Guards were at times found on swords or sword-like weapons. Some lightsabers like Ezra Bridger's lightsaber and the double-bladed spinning lightsabers have handguards that were circular or square.[1]
