- "Tatooine. Kerev Doi. Demesel. Horuz. All worlds still in thrall either to some Imperial remnant or to criminal syndicates or gangs."
- ―Leia Organa
Demesel was a world[3] represented by Senator Ghoghos in the Galactic Senate during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems and later in the Imperial Senate. During the war, the people of Demesel suffered and were dying, leading to Senator Ghoghos joining the Delegation of 2,000, led by Senator Mon Mothma. When Mothma tried to gather Ghoghos' support for the Imperial Rebirth Act, Ghoghos did not agree with the idea of limiting Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine's power, saying that he had saved his people from destruction by ending the war.[2] Around the time of the Battle of Jakku, Demesel was one of many worlds still under threat from either an Imperial remnant, criminal syndicate, or gang.[3]
