"I joined your delegation because the war was dragging on and my people were dying. Turns out the man we tried to ruin put an end to the fighting. Palpatine can dissolve the Senate and put me to work in the coaxium mines, and I'll still call him a hero."
―Ghoghos, to Mon Mothma[1]

Ghoghos was a senator who served in the Galactic Republic's Galactic Senate and later in the Galactic Empire's Imperial Senate, representing the[1] planet[2] Demesel. During the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Ghoghos joined the Delegation of 2,000, a group in protest to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine's growing power.[1] Around 19 BBY,[3] after Palpatine had become Galactic Emperor of the newly formed Empire, Senator Mon Mothma attempted to convince Ghoghos to support her Imperial Rebirth Act, aimed at reducing Palpatine's power. However, Ghoghos refused to oppose their leader again, believing Palpatine had helped his people by ending the war. Days after Mothma attempted to arrange a meeting with him, Ghoghos confronted her in the hallways of the Senate building and expressed he would not support the act. Ghoghos even went as far as to call Palpatine a "hero," saying his opinion would not even change if Palpatine dissolved the Senate and forced him to work in the coaxium mines.[1]

Behind the scenes

Ghoghos appeared in in the 2025 novel Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[1]
