The Cloak of the Sith was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Abrion sector, with the Death Wind Corridor passing through. The smuggler Tryphon Leo marked it as a label for the Death Wind in the Smuggler's Guide book.
Description
The Cloak of the Sith lay along the Death Wind Corridor.
The Cloak of the Sith was located in the Abrion sector within the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice regions.[2] Situated at the coordinates S-15 on the Standard Galactic Grid, it was passed through by the Death Wind Corridor hyperspace route, which linked the Ryloth and Roon systems and formed part of the Spice Triangle trade network.[3] The location shared its name with the Sith, an ancient order of Force-sensitive adherents of the dark side of the Force.[4]
History
By 10 BBY,[5] the Pyke Syndicate controlled underworld trade in the Spice Triangle, which was noted by the former pirate queen Maz Kanata in a book that was eventually named the Smuggler's Guide. After the smuggler Tryphon Leo stole the book, they planned to lock down trade along the network. Leo wrote about their plans in the book and in the entry included a map of the Spice Triangle with the Cloak of the Sith marked as the label for the Death Wind Corridor. Leo's plans were cut short, however, when they died trying to reach one of Kanata's mapped treasure caches in order to fund their plans.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Cloak of the Sith was first introduced in the current Star Wars canon through the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, written by Daniel Wallace. In the book, "Cloak of the Sith" was labeled on a hyperspace route implied in the prose to be the Death Wind Corridor.[3] However, the Cloak of the Sith was treated as a location in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025—both works being written by Jason Fry.[6] Via email, Fry specified his treatment of the Cloak of the Sith and suspected the label in the Smuggler's Guide to be an "art error."[7] This article therefore treats the Cloak of the Sith as a location.
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Cloak of the Sith was a cosmic dust cloud, in which the planet Roon was located. It first appeared in "Tail of the Roon Comets," the tenth episode of the animated television series Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO[8] that aired on November 7, 1985.[9]

- ↑ The entries in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide that involve the Spice Triangle and the Cloak of the Sith are placed chronologically prior to an entry written by Tobias Beckett. Star Wars: Timelines dates Beckett's death to 10 BBY, and so his entry in the guide and those chronologically before it must all be set at some point by that date.
