The Choah Belt was an asteroid field located[2] in the Mortex sector's Choah system in the Outer Rim Territories region. It was situated in grid square S-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]
During the Galactic Civil War, the forces of the Rebel Alliance established a fuel refinery among the asteroids.[2] Around 0 ABY,[3] shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire discovered the refinery and destroyed it in a battle, causing critical fuel shortages among rebel forces throughout the sector. Sometime after the battle, the Rebellion stole the Empire's Field Secured Container Vessel Black Ice refueling ship in order to compensate the refinery's loss.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Choah Belt was introduced in the current Star Wars canon in the thirty-fourth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine series,[2] published around August 26, 2015.[4] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Choah Belt was originally introduced in Black Ice, a 1990 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game adventure authored by Paul Murphy and Bill Slavicsek.[5]
