The Cerean Reach was a hyperspace route that ran from the Cerean homeworld Cerea in the Mid Rim Territories to the planet Lutrillia in the Outer Rim Territories. Between the two terminuses, it connected the astronomical objects Kartoosh, Riflor, Beltire, the Entropian Hive, Lorta, and Shuldene. Cerea acted as a junction from the Reach onto the Great Gran Run and the Spar Trade Route and Lutrillia connected it to the Lutrillian Cross.
Description
The Cerean Reach was a hyperspace route that had one terminus at Cerea,[5] the Mid Rim[1] homeworld of the Cerean species,[7] and then linked the astronomical objects Kartoosh, Riflor, Beltire, the Entropian Hive, and Lorta within the Mid Rim before crossing into the Outer Rim Territories[1] to link to the celestial body Shuldene in the Yarith sector[4] of the Greater Javin.[3]
From Shuldene it then linked to its other terminus, Lutrillia,[1] a planet[8] that was also part of the Lutrillian Cross hyperlane.[4] Cerea also acted as a junction from the route onto the Spar Trade Route[5] and the Great Gran Run.[6] Between Beltire and Lutrillia, the route also fell within the Western Reaches portion of the galaxy.[2] On the Standard Galactic Grid, the route ran through grid squares I-16, J-16, J-17, and J-18.[1]
History
In 34 ABY,[9] Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon passed by the Cerean Reach on a cruise from the Core Worlds' Chandrila system to the Outer Rim Territories. Several screens aboard the starship displayed a partial map of the galaxy that indicated the route's position.[10]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Cerean Reach was first shown in the eighteenth issue of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[4] which was published around May 6, 2015.[11] It then appeared in-universe for the first time when it was depicted on a map viewable in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive roleplaying experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida[10] that opened to the public on March 1, 2022.[12]
The route was then identified in the English language release of "Bespin and Other Planets in the Outer Rim," part of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series[5] that was originally released in Spanish on September 21, 2021.[13] The route originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.[14]
