- "We thought you might be hungry. It's bucco bread. Baked fresh today."
- ―Bartol, to Keeve Trennis
Bucco bread was a type of golden bread eaten by members of a colony on the Outer Rim planet Sedri Minor during the High Republic Era. In 232 BBY, the human child Bartol and a Gran child took a basket of freshly baked bucco bread to a group of Jedi that had visited the colony and presented it to the human Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis.
Trennis was appreciative of the two children's idea but informed them that they had not needed to as the Jedi had food of their own. The Jedi Knight did take the basket from Bartol and held it as she spoke with other members of the colony. She was no longer holding the basket when she went to search for the missing Jedi Knight Ceret.
Description
Bucco bread was a type of golden bread in the form of small round loaves.[1]
History
- "You do eat, don't you?"
"Heh. Yeah, we eat. That's really kind of you, but you don't have to give us your bread. We have food of our own." - ―The Gran child and Keeve Trennis
By 232 BBY,[2] during the High Republic Era, bucco bread was consumed by residents of a colony on[1] the Outer Rim[3] planet Sedri Minor.[1] That year,[2] two children that were part of the colony—the human boy Bartol and a Gran—took a basket of bucco bread that had been freshly baked that day to a group of Jedi that were visiting the colony as part of an investigation after discovering a derelict Hutt ship that had come from the colony. After arriving at the Jedi[1] flagship[4] Ataraxia, Bartol and the Gran encountered the human Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis, who was standing outside the Ataraxia.[1]
Bartol (center) and a Gran (right) offered bucco bread to Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis (left).
Upon greeting Trennis, Bartol informed[1] her[3] that because they thought the Jedi would be hungry, they had brought them the bread, and told her the name of the bread and that it had been baked that day. The Gran then asked the Jedi Knight if the Jedi ate, which she responded to by stating they did. Trennis then told the children that it was really kind of them to offer them the bread, but they did not need to as the Jedi had their own food. The Jedi Knight did accept the basket of bucco bread, and was then approached by a Rodian couple who lived in the colony—Reeta and[1] Neeso[5]—who had brought the Jedi a bowl of samana spiced loaf. Neeso spotted the bucco bread and noted that the children had had the same idea as them, and Trennis asked if they had brought more bread.[1]
As she spoke with the couple, as well as[1] the Artiodac speaker of the colony Kalo Sulman,[6] the Jedi Knight held the basket of bucco bread in her hand. After the colonists were all taken away by Sulman, Trennis went to search for her missing friend,[1] Jedi Knight[6] Ceret, and was no longer holding the basket.[1]
