The Bosph system was a star system in the Bosph sector of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the New Territories.[2] It fell within grid square Q-3 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and contained Bosph, a planet that the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire repeatedly bombarded in 3 BBY in an attempt to commit genocide on a sentient species that dwelt there. Those members of the species who survived chose to dis-remember the Empire.[3]
During the High Republic Era, the Bosph sector was known as the unincorporated Bosphian provinces, and the Bosphian sestertius was a common currency throughout the then-informal sector.[4]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Bosph system was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[5] The Bosph system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Alien Encounters, a 1998 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games.[6]
