- "In response, these survivors have "dis-remembered" the Galactic Empire—a grave insult in their society. They refuse to acknowledge the Imperial state ever even existed. These are a species who have purposefully turned their backs on the perpetrators of attempted genocide, and their silence should be respected."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
A sentient species inhabited the planet Bosph. In 3 BBY, the Galactic Empire attempted to commit genocide on the species when its Imperial Navy repeatedly carried out large-scale orbital bombardment of their homeworld, enacting an ongoing quarantine on those that survived. In response, the species chose to dis-remember the Empire, refusing to acknowledge that the state ever existed as what was considered a grave insult in the species' society.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] the historian Beaumont Kin mentioned the species in[1] his[3] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire. Despite generally encouraging readers to seek out accounts of Imperial atrocities from the victims themselves, Kin stated that the species' choice to disremember the Empire and remain silent on the matter should be respected.[1]
Behind the scenes
The species was known as the Bosph in Star Wars Legends.
In the current Star Wars canon, the species that inhabited Bosph was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1] They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first depicted in an illustration by Mark Nelson on a card in the 1993 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 1 set published by Topps in 1993.[4]
The species was then named as the Bosph in "Smugglers of the Outer Rim," an article written by Doug Shuler and published as a supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game in Star Wars Adventure Journal 5 in February 1995.[5] A Bosph then appeared for the first time in Jeff Grubb's 2012 novel, Scourge.[6]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
