- "The Jedi found me at a slightly older age than usual. Also, I'm a Kage. People from my planet remember. Our memories begin almost from birth. I remember my family, Porter. I remember my parents, I remember my siblings, I remember how it felt to be with them. I do not regret coming to the temple…but I remember what I lost."
- ―Barash Silvain, to Porter Engle
At least two Kage individuals were from[2] the Inner Rim planet[3] Quarzite.[1] Like all Kage, they had eidetic memories.[4] By 407 BBY,[5] they had a Kage daughter—Barash Silvain—and at least two other children.[2] Also by that year,[5] the infant Silvain's Force-sensitivity was discovered and she[6] was taken by the Jedi Order to be trained as a Jedi at the Jedi Temple on[2] the Core Worlds planet[3] Coruscant.[2]
In 397 BBY,[7] Silvain told her close friend—the Ikkrukkian Jedi Porter Engle—that because she had been found by the Order at an older age than usual, and because of her[2] eidetic memory,[8] she had continued to remember her parents and family. Silvain noted she recalled how it felt to be with her parents, and although she did not regret being brought to the temple, she remembered what she had lost. She then told Engle that she had found family again with him, and asked if he would be her brother, which he accepted.[2]
