The Baragwin[4] were a large sentient species with pink and gray skin and yellow eyes.[1] The thug Hermi Odle was a Baragwin.[4] As a colonial species, they had migrated and adapted to dominate many worlds.[5]

Biology and appearance

Baragwin were a bipedal species with two legs, as well as two arms, each ending in three-fingered hands. They had a naturally hunched posture with tall backs and broad shoulders.[1] Their heads were rounded and featured a large mouth with a prominent tongue. Their skin could be brown[2] or bluish-gray in coloration, with mottled pink patches. They had beady yellow[1] or orange eye[2] and vertical nostrils situated at the end of their snouts. The Baragwin Hermi Odle had facial orifices that were often filled with pus.[1]

History

Baragwin hailed from the Old Barag system[3] within the Epsi Collective sector, which itself was situated within the Expansion Region.[6] The species traveled throughout and were known and present with the greater galaxy by at least 0 ABY.[7]

Baragwin in the galaxy

In 0 ABY[8], shortly after the Battle of Yavin, a Baragwin was present in a bar on Nar Shaddaa when Luke Skywalker entered the establishment following a brief brawl that ended when he drew his lightsaber.[7] During the tenure of 80-M, in which he served under Jabba the Hutt, Hermi Odle was present at Jabba's throne room when a Rodian came to speak before Jabba. Odle was also present when a fight between Roondha and Ree-Yees broke out within the same location.[9]

Additionally, Odle was present within Jabba's Palace when Lando Calrissian visited shortly before the rescue of Lobot from Cloud City.[10] He also witnessed Boba Fett intimidate Bib Fortuna into revealing why Jabba had placed a bounty on the bounty hunter.[11]

In 4 ABY[12], a Baragwin watched Lando Calrissian and Elocin gamble inside Elocin's club.[2] Later that same year, Hermi Odle[13] was once again present within Jabba's Palace, specifically when Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, and Leia Organa rescued Han Solo from carbonite.[1]

Behind the scenes

Baragwin first appeared in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, directed by Richard Marquand[1] and released in 1983.[14] While the species were not named on screen in the film, they were eventually identified within Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know[15] released on September 4, 2015.[16]
