Aurell was, along with Ryern, one of two stars located in the Auratera system of the Outer Rim Territories' Vorzyd sector. The star, which lay along the Salin Corridor hyperspace route, was orbited by three planets, one of which was known as Auratera.[1] It was situated in grid square R-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[2] As Aurell was the larger of the system's stars, the three planets orbited it exclusively, although Ryern still illuminated Auratera's sky. As a result, nights occurred on the planet only when Aurell completely eclipsed Ryern.[1]
Ryern and Aurell's propinquity varied over time, which affected Auratera's temperature. At times, the two stars appeared to be conjoined, which caused particularly bright and hot days, while at others the stars were not present in the sky at the same time. Regardless of their proximity, Aurell was always brighter than Ryern, with the latter star never being more than a third of the former's brightness.[1]
Behind the scenes
Aurell was introduced via mention in the 2016 Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Nexus of Power, which was published by Fantasy Flight Games for use with the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game system.[1]
