During the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, Imperial forces attacked the Far Cradle, a Republic refueling station in the Unknown Regions, after short-range Republic ships were tracked back there. The Imperial forces destroyed the station.

The battle

After short-range Republic warships were tracked to the Unknown Regions, the Sith Empire discovered the Republics refueling outpost known as the Far Cradle. Imperial Fleet Command immediatley scrambled several Fighter squadrons, among those the elite Empire's Fury squadron, to launch a surprise attack against the station. As the Imperial attack began, they at first encountered only a lone Valor-class cruiser that was refueling but very soon a pair of Thranta-class corvettes arrived to reinforce the Far Cradle. Despite their numerical advantage, the Republic forces were unable to stop the Imperial fighters from devastating the station, its defenses, and the vast majority of their capital ships and starfighters.
