The Aruza system was located in the Expansion Region[1] and the Interior.[2] It was situated in grid square I-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The system was the origin point of[4] the Aruzan species and contained the celestial body Aruza, which was the homeworld of the female Aruzan Manaroo.[3] By 3 ABY,[5] Manaroo was held as a prisoner in the palace[6] of the Hutt crime lord[3] Jabba Desilijic Tiure[7] on the Outer Rim planet Tatooine as leverage against her boyfriend Dengar.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Aruza system was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[8] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Aruza system[9] first appeared through the appearance of the planet Aruza in "Payback: The Tale of Dengar," a short story written by Dave Wolverton that was published in the 1996 anthology Tales of the Bounty Hunters.[10] The system was then identified in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[9]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats Aruza system as one such homeworld with regard to the Aruzan species.
