The Ansett system was situated in the Ciutric sector of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories[2] within grid square N-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It was the site of[4] Ansett Island, where, during the Battle of Ansett Island, the First Order Company 77 of stormtroopers was ordered to kill a group of civilians[3] at some point between approximately 10 ABY and 33 ABY.[5] The entire company refused to carry out the order and subsequently deserted, escaping aboard a cruiser that members of the company eventually took to the Endor system.[6]
Behind the scenes
The Ansett system was first mentioned in a galaxy map[7] designed by Christopher Ibbitt[8] that was created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[9] on May 27, 2022[10] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[11] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[12] It was then identified by name in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map article on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[13]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Ansett Island in relation to the Ansett system.
- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary establishes that Jannah, a former deserter member of Company 77, was in her early twenties by the time of the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker and that Jannah and other deserters of the company had settled on Kef Bir years prior to that film's events. Furthermore, The Visual Dictionary describes the state of the galaxy up to and during the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 35 ABY, thereby placing the desertion of Company 77 to some point between 10 ABY and 33 ABY.
