Ansett Island[1] was an island located on the planet Epo[2] within the Outer Rim Territories.[4] At some point between approximately 10 ABY and 33 ABY,[5] the First Order was involved in the Battle of Ansett Island there. During the battle, Company 77 of First Order stormtroopers—a training unit filled with teenaged troopers—was ordered to kill a group of civilians.[1] The entire company refused to carry out the order and subsequently deserted, escaping aboard a cruiser that members of the company took offworld.[3]

Ansett Island was first mentioned as part of the name of the Battle of Ansett Island that the former Company 77 member Jannah mentions to the former stormtrooper Finn in[3] the 2019 sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[7] It was also directly mentioned in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo.[1] The 2020 non-canon adaptation William Shakespeare's The Merry Rise of Skywalker: Star Wars Part the Ninth by Ian Doescher contains a different version of the line from The Rise of Skywalker mentioning Ansett Island that likewise directly refers to the location.[6]
