- I, Toprawa and Ralltiir, hereby propose that Wookieepedia promote Supreme Emperor to join the proud administrative ranks of our fair wiki. I feel that we are strongly in need of another capable administrator who can boost our numbers with a regular, everyday presence on the site. Taking a look at our current list of administrators (15 in all), I don't think it's unfair to say that less than half of our current number are present and active on the site every day. Furthermore, we have a new vacancy in the administration. In the past week, Xd1358 has left on six-month military service, and Grand Moff Tranner was removed for lack of activity. The need for another regularly contributing administrator is there, and Supreme Emperor is one of our most experienced and reliable users to yet ascend to this lofty position. I believe he is the most deserving candidate to fill this vacancy, and I am proud to nominate him for this honor. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 03:29, January 8, 2015 (UTC)

Senate Hall 22:46, January 8, 2015 (UTC) - Thanks for answering my questions. I'd keep questions like that in the forefront of your mind as an administrator. I think there can sometimes be a tendency to focus on the site maintenance aspects, and I think admins should always remain cognizant of the issues and ideas I mentioned (not because I mentioned them, but because they're important) and always be thinking of ways in which to improve upon them. Good luck as an admin! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 02:44, January 9, 2015 (UTC)

Optional candidate Q&A
- Why do you want to become an administrator?
- I want to be an administrator because I believe it will benefit the site. I love this site, and want to help improve it in any way I can.
- In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
- I believe an administrator's role is to ensure the site runs smoothly.
- In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
- Both. Administrators have access to tools that regular users don't, such as blocking, deleting and protecting. At the same time, they are the ones users look to for help, and as such need to be good representatives of the site.
- How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
- The power administrators hold should only be used to benefit the site, and never for personal gain of any sort.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- I really haven't come into conflict with anyone. I believe when anyone begins to irritate you, the best way to deal with it is to take a step back and clear your head. When people are angry or irritated, situations can quickly get out of hand.
- Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- First skirmish in Cuipernam was the first good article I nominated. I learned a lot while writing that article, and it helped me get a sense of what a status article should look like.
- What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
- Anything I can.
- How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
- Very important. As leaders of the site, administrators should take part in any and all community discussions. As for article reviewing, these can be mostly handled by the individual review panels. That being said, I believe it is important for admins to be involved with them, to help ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
- Not everything can be covered by policy. When a situation not covered by policy is encountered, common sense should be used. In the event an admin is going against policy, it should be discussed with them.
- What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
- I believe anyone who takes the time to make an account here should be welcomed. As for anons, they should be welcomed if they make a productive edit here.
- How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
- If it was a mistake on my part, I would thank them for catching it. In the event someone else mistakenly speedied an article, I would inform them of the mistake and only undelete it for them if they didn't respond.
- How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
- I would treat it the same as any other situation involving vandalism. I would warn them, and issue a block if the vandalism continued.
- Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
- I believe that no user is above the rules. In the event an established user continued committing a blockable offense, I would warn them and only block if it continued.
- If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
- I would encourage more users to take part in article reviewing. The nomination pages are an essential part of the site, and lately they have been moving fairly slowly.
- Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
- Both.
- Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
- I believe it is fine as is.
- Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
- I'm normally on there every night.
- How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
- I believe if someone wishes to influence the site, they should contribute here as well.
- How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
- Three million initially, with more available immediately after Geonosis.
- Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
- That Kyle Katarn is pretty awesome. That being said, I personally don't have a favorite.
- What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
- Policy, as these are the rules we follow. However, in the event a policy is lacking or needs to be changed, we do this through consensus.
- Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
- I have a management job at my work, and am a member of the Educorps here.
- What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way?
- If it is a user who left for good reason, I welcome their opinion. As for banned users, they were banned for a reason and should not influence the site.
- What is your wiki philosophy?
- The site should come first. We all have our differences, and may disagree at times, but we are all here to improve the site. Supreme Emperor (talk) 05:12, January 8, 2015 (UTC)

I want to ask a few quick questions as well. I was advised to put them here rather than the Q&A section so as to avoid confusion as to which are official and which are not. Apparently this has never been done before (I'm a trendsetter!) but here we go:
- Since 2008, Wookieepedia page views have gone up significantly, but the number of editors has consistently gone down. The decline in editors is despite many popular Star Wars stories coming out, including The Clone Wars, many novels, comics, and games, and most recently Rebels, as well as the buzz generated by the Disney acquisition and The Force Awakens. Knowing that:
- What do you attribute the decline to?
- I don't believe it can be attributed to any one "event". When Wookieepedia first started, it was new. People flocked to the site to improve it. Once the main characters and movie related articles were filled in, some of the initial editors began to leave. After that, we began losing our regular editors slowly due to real life issues and lack of interest. We gained a few new people here and there, but never to the extent it once was.
- As an admin, how will you work to reverse the decline in editors?
- I've been thinking about a few ways to attract new editors via social media.
- What do you attribute the decline to?
- How do you think Wookieepedia should, if at all, embrace a changing internet that puts a greater emphasis on social media, video content, and other forms of consuming content beyond just traditional text?
- I believe we can use social media to our advantage. It is a great way to showcase our status articles, inform people about new things going on here, and potentially recruit new editors. Supreme Emperor (talk) 01:22, January 9, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:36, January 8, 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answers. Some follow ups :
- You mentioned that the growth of members, after some early users left, wasn't to the extent that it once was after core people left. I would put forward a specific statistic by saying that there was a 14 month period, from March 2008 through April 2009, where there were over 1,000 editors on Wookieepedia. Since then, it has consistently declined. 2014 had a high of 588 editors (April) and a low of 445 (September). So, at the risk of sounding like this question is loaded, I don't think it was necessarily just real-life commitments and a core early group losing interest. Although major characters were filled out, there were still many popular stories, as mentioned in my initial question, that people could have written about. So...
- Why do you believe the growth in numbers wasn't what it once was, and indeed it was a significant drop?
- To be perfectly honest, I really don't know. With regards to the drop, there really is no set reason for it. It could have been any number of reasons.
- Do you think there are any issues in the community that contributed to this?
- I would assume some people left as we began cracking down on our policies. (One example would be cracking down on off topic talk page comments). Things like that likely sent a few people away.
- Do you see Wookieepedia, as a basic concept, being somewhat daunting to new editors? Why or why not?
- Absolutely. Any project as large as this is a bit intimidating at first, and takes time to get used to.
- What are some specific issues or idea that you would like to see Wookieepedia work on in order to gain more editors?
- I think we should do more with social media. As I previously stated, it is a great way to attract new users and showcase our material.
- Why do you believe the growth in numbers wasn't what it once was, and indeed it was a significant drop?
- When The Force Awakens hits theaters, there's likely to be an uptick in editors. We've already seen an uptick after the premiere of Rebels (though nowhere near the level that a movie is going to generate). Many of them are going to be first time editors. There's going to be a rush to edit pages about The Force Awakens. Obviously there's going to be a desire from what I would think is most of us to keep as many of those editors as we can, and turn them into regular editors.
- For those who might be interested in becoming regular editors, what would you like to see Wookieepedia do to entice them to stay?
- Be patient with them. It takes time to get used to our various policies and such.
- As an administrator, how will you react to and handle the inevitable mistakes that people will make in good faith as a result of their excitement to contribute information about the movie?
- I would inform them of their mistake and let them know if they have any questions, they are more than welcome to ask.
- For those who might be interested in becoming regular editors, what would you like to see Wookieepedia do to entice them to stay?
- You mentioned you had some ideas for social media. What are those ideas?
- We could use social media more to answer any questions people may have about our site. There are most likely some people who are interested in editing, but don't know where to start. Perhaps even something as simple as informing people that if they have questions, we are happy to help.
- What is Wookieepedia's place in the greater Star Wars fan community? What do you want its place to be?
- We are the best source of Star Wars information. I believe we should strive to constantly improve our content and ensure we always have the answers people are looking for.
- Wookieepedia's scope has always been to document encyclopedic facts about Star Wars. Is there anything else you think the site can and should do, while retaining that core focus?
- Nothing in particular comes to mind. Supreme Emperor (talk) 02:25, January 9, 2015 (UTC)
