- "I've been watching you ever since you joined us on Veron."
- ―Micha Evon, to Brand
Veron was a Mid Rim Territories astronomical object where the bounty hunter Brand infiltrated the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry through a recruitment drive by 0 BBY, sneaking her equipment onto the company's CR90 corvette Thunderstrike in hope of assassinating their Captain Micha Evon.
Description
Veron was a terrestrial astronomical object[4] in an eponymous star system in the Senex sector of the Senex-Juvex region, within an intersecting portion of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches.[2] Situated in grid square L-17 of the Standard Galactic Grid,[1] it was where the species known as the Gwerax-hai were captured, typically using net-throwers.[4]
History
- "Tracking down Twilight Company took time, but soldiers do stupid things when they're on leave. Talk to the wrong people […] and get cozy, mention their next assignments. Wasn't more than four months before I showed up at an open recruit on Veron and offered to join."
- ―Brand recalls tracking the 61st to Veron
The bounty hunter Brand tracked the 61st Mobile Infantry to Veron.
The Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry held an open recruiting drive on Veron[3] sometime by 0 BBY.[6] The bounty hunter Brand, who sought to assassinate the 61st's Captain Micha Evon, tracked the infantry company there and offered to join. Lying about her identity, the bounty hunter smuggled her kit onto the 61st's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike.[3]
Evon cited Brand's arrival in the company on Veron when she eventually attempted to kill him on the planet Allst Prime. The captain subsequently convinced her to stay in the 61st and give up the bounty on him.[5] Brand also recounted joining the company on Veron when telling her backstory to the 61st recruit Roach on the planet Coyerti[3] in 3 ABY.[7]
Behind the scenes
Veron was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, written by Alexander Freed.[3] A planet named "Veron" was first introduced in the 1991 Star Wars Legends sourcebook Planets of the Galaxy, Volume One. The sourcebook, written for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, placed "Veron" in the Mektrun Cluster.[8] In the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, a "Veron Minor system" was introduced, along with mentions of the Senex sector world Veron and the "Veron system."[9] The StarWars.com Online Companion to that book placed both the Mektrun Cluster and the Veron Minor system in the Mektrun sector, thus confirming that the original planet Veron had been renamed Veron Minor retroactively.[10]

- ↑ Battlefront: Twilight Company establishes that Brand was part of the 61st Mobile Infantry by the time of the battle on Vir Aphshire, which occurred concurrent to the Battle of Yavin. Brand must have therefore joined the company prior to the Battle of Yavin, which is dated to 0 BBY by Star Wars: Galactic Atlas.
