Dark Jedi

A Dark Jedi is one who has fallen to the darkside but not joined the Sith, which Revan and Malak did. Thus they are not Dark Jedi, they're Sith. Jasca Ducato 21:05, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

  • You do know that the two groups are not mutually exclusive, right? Revan and Malak were both Dark Jedi and Sith. It gets repetitive to exclusively call them one or the other, so I mixed it up. I left that comment on your talk page because I have noticed that you have a certain pattern of removing disputed information from articles without attempting to reach consensus first... --Sentry 21:13, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Hy, would you be so kind as to tell me how you managed to take screenshots of the computer as you have done here. I could really use knowledge like this.

Also, do you know how to check the history of whats been on a screen just incase i need to search up so info. Many thanks, Jasca Ducato 17:09, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

But one the second point, when i asked about checking a screens history i meant something like this; My friend managed to bring up a screenshot of a conversation i had had on MSN several hours before hand which had the websites i was looking at at the time in the background. Campaign box

  • Awesome. I noticed you'd created that capacity but hadn't realised I was able to change colours on individual pages rather than the whole template. I've changed the box on the Empire Reborn page, but it makes me think about doing it for the individual pages as well. I could create a unified look for them, especaily if the box was at the top. Equally it might just be more distracting. I know you don't particularly like infoboxes but any thoughts? --Eyrezer 10:17, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
    • lol. If you look at your revert on the campaign infobox page, you'll see I'd already reverted it. Yours only affected a link! --Eyrezer 10:23, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi: I stole the image you put on your timezone userbox and put it at File:Clock2uk.png. The One

I see you deleted the reference to the One as a leader of the Rakata Civil War, saying that he lived in the JEdi Civil War. According to the admins here, speculation *can* be put down, in ships lengths, heights, and widths, as well as weaponry(when you look at the model), so it's okay until something official comes. Userpage problem

Hi Sentry. I've been told you're the go-to-guy for code, and I was wondering if you would help me out with a problem on my userpage.

As you can see when you look at it, the menus to the left and tabs on top of the page are smaller font that they should be, and at the bottom of the page the text leaks out of the white box and the small text problem continues there as well.

I have found that removing a section fixes the problem, but I don't notice any such problem with userpages twice the size of mine. This makes me think it may be something wierd in the code, but I'm no good with code, so I have no idea what it is.

I was wondering if you could take a look and see if you can do anything about it. Feel free to edit and play around with the code in my userpage if that's what you need to do. Thanks for your time. - Angel Blue 451 01:40, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Template help!

Hi Sentry: I have two favours to ask related to templates. The first is at User talk:Vymer: we'd like to change the name of one of the fields in the ship templates. The second is at Kinnin Vo-Shay: I tried everything I could think of, and the infobox still has white text on a white background. If you have time, could you check those out? Thanks, —Silly Dan (talk) 03:28, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

  • The problem with the Kinnin Vo-Shay template is a result of a rather nasty bug in the Character infobox. The glitch has to do with assigning color values to the headingcolor and bgcolor fields. If you include a statement such as "|headingcolor=" or "|bgcolor=", but don't assign a color value to the variable, the box will break. As such, the only way to fix the problem is to remove those statements from the template call (which is what I did).–SentryTalk 17:31, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

      • Yup. I'll have to fix that template one of these days. That will be a big job… –SentryTalk 21:44, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
        • I fixed the various infobox templates now so that they will not break when the "|BG1=" or "|BG2=" fields are present, but not assigned a value within the templcate call.–SentryTalk 08:35, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Jedipedia.de needs help!

Hi Sentry! I'm Ben Kenobi from Jedipedia.de and we need help with our era-template. I also wrote to Sikon, but you did the last changes to your template, so I thought, maybe you can help either. I've copied the majority of your source but there is a problem we can't cure: The icons are above each other, not beside. We can't find our mistake, so maybe you have an idea? Please, look at our Template. Thanks for the help. Ben Kenobi (217.236.237.31 20:56, 29 September 2006 (UTC))

  • I saw the message you left for Sikon and I was actually just looking into it… –SentryTalk 20:59, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Okay, I am not sure what the root of the problem is, but if you replace the source code of your Ära Template with the following code, it should work just fine:

<div id="title-eraicons" class="plainlinks firstHeading" style="font-size:188%; padding-top:0.2em; padding-bottom:0.09em; float:right; position:absolute; right:0.5em; top:0em; white-space:nowrap;"><table cellpading="0" cellspacing="0" style="float:right; padding:0px"><tr><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{1|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{2|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{3|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{4|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{5|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{6|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{7|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{8|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{9|null}}}=t}}</td><td>{{Ära-Icon|{{{10|null}}}=t}}</td></tr></table></div>

Eras

I had an idea and thought I'd run it past you rather than give it a thread. On the various character infobox templates, there is the useful template info that can be cut and pasted onto the article page. To encourage people to put in the era at the same time, how about we put {{Top|}} there as well? It wouldn't need to be integrated into the template of course. I can do it myself but wanted some feedback first. --Eyrezer 05:07, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Sorry, I'm probably being obtuse, but I don't understand what you are suggesting. http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4700/huhgr0.gif Do you want to add instructions for adding the {{Top}} template to the character infobox template pages? If so, that would be a pretty good idea. Would you mind clarifying that a bit? Thnx. –SentryTalk 21:27, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
    • My fault if the explanation isn't clear. Basically I'm assuming people cut and paste the fields for Character infoboxes, and seem to forget to put in the era template. I often find myself putting this afterwards for other people. If the era template field was put onto the pages, it seems to me people wouldn't forget. I edited the Yuuzhan Vong character infobox to demonstrate what I mean. --Eyrezer 04:53, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Ya, that sounds like a good idea, but we may want to seperate the instructions for the eras template from the infobox instructions so that it doesn't confuse people:

Usage instructions

Paste the following code into the top of an article, filling all known fields:

{{Yuuzhan Vong character infobox
|name=
|image=
|homeworld=
|birth=
|death=
|species=
|gender=
|height=
|hair=
|eyes=
|era=
|affiliation=
}}

Please remember to inlcude the {{Top}} template at the top of the page if it is not already present.

{{Top|}}
  • That could work, although it still involve two cut and pastes. The other way may be simpler. --Eyrezer 23:39, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

MGLT

Recently, I had removed some of the MGLT listings from a few ship articles because I was of the view that since in those cases we already knew their acceleration in Gs, MGLT was unecessary. However, the main reason I removed them was the "maximum speed" part of the description made little sense in space (there being no maximum speed per se) and acceleration Gs was a much better descriptor. I was talking with Silly Dan on my talkpage and he suggested asking you whether it would be possible to change the template so that MGLT contains no reference to "maximum speed"?Vymer 08:47, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Creating Official Userbox Templates

Okay, none of the admins are paying attention to the proposal page and it has been more than two weeks for some... So, out of goodwill to the populace of Wookieepedia, how do you create something like this:

40px This user supports the Galactic Republic.

Commander Darc (GAR) 20px 02:11, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

  • The easiest way to create a userbox is to use the {{userbox}} template. Otherwise, you would have to copy the source code from another userbox and modify it for your own needs, but that would require some knowledge of HTML and CSS.–SentryTalk 21:09, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Sentry, since Redemption changed the pic for the Amidala award, and the voting is 11-0, can you go ahead and add it to the award que? Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 03:47, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
    • If I was an admin, I would be happy to do so, but since I am not, I think that you might want to ask one of them to do it. I only added the wookiee cookie award to the awards page because it had sat in limbo on the proposal page for over a month and because users were already beginning to use it.–SentryTalk 04:36, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Era icons

Hey Sentry! I made two new era icons to be used with {{Top}}. I know you had talked about changing them to something similar before, but nothing ever happened with that. If you like them, I'll go ahead and use them. The images and related discussion is at the bottom of this page. --Xwing328(Talk) 18:25, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Also, should we try to merge {{Top}} and {{title}} into some sort of header template, so that they can work better together? --Xwing328(Talk) 18:27, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
    • In response to your first comment, the discussion over at Forum:Era/Star troubles has rather convinced me that marking "good" and "featured" articles with the star and checkmark era icons may not be a good idea. For a while, I tested out some possible alternatives, but no one really seemed interested so I let it go. Maybe we should start a new forum discussion about it?
      Secondly, about combining the "eras" and "title" templates, I can try and mock something up tonight.–SentryTalk 20:31, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
      • I tried something early, basically I just stuck the two templates together, and it seems to work pretty well. See here. Of course, it makes you specify the title with "title=WhateverYouWant". This could be a pain to implement with all of them. I'll start a forum tonight to see if people want to change the icons. --Xwing328(Talk) 22:28, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
        • Sorry, I haven't gotten back to you on the title-era combination template. I just haven't had the time to mess with it yet.–SentryTalk 06:43, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Template:Sith Triumvirate

Hello!

Why isn't it necessary?

If you're concernee about the messed up coding, I'll fix it today when I get a chance.

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant20px 16:10, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I tagged the {{Sith Triumvirate}} template with {{deletebecause}} because I don't see why it is needed. Navigation templates are meant to tie together collections of similar articles in order to improve site navigation, but the template you created does not do that. It just lists a bunch of articles that are only vaguely tied to a certain topic — the 'so called' Sith Triuvarate. Where exactly are you planning on putting the template once it is finished? Because I cannot think of any fitting place for it except for the actual Sith Triumvirate article. As such, we don't really need a template at all — the information can just be integrated into the text body of that article.–SentryTalk 01:07, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

UserBoxes

Hey Sentry, I was wondering if you could give me the instructions on how to make userboxes?BobafettH23 12:35, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Hmmm… users keep asking me this question and I am never sure how to answer. I guess that I will give you the same answer that I gave Commander Darc above. The easiest way to create a userbox is to use the {{userbox}} template. Otherwise, you have to copy the source code from another userbox and modify it for your own needs, but that requires some knowledge of HTML and CSS. –SentryTalk 20:51, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes

Hey Sentry, need any help with userboxes? Brain40 11:01, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Sorry I'm late, but I wanted to offer help by asking you if you wanted any custom userboxes made, or if you knew of anyone else who does. Brain40 11:02, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, I don't personally need any more userboxes at the moment, but if anyone asks me for help and I am too busy, I will be happy to direct them to you :-)  SentryTalk 09:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes

Hi, I think we have the same ideas regarding userboxes. I went on and worked on a Kenner and Hasbro set of userboxes before I saw you were working on them--had an edit conflict when I tried to save. If you have anything that's better, feel free to replace my feeble attempts. I think we're on the same page. - breathesgelatinTalk 06:17, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Wow, nice work! It is kinda strange, but they look exactly like the versions I had just started to play with. The only thing that I may tweak is the images. I have found some slightly higher resolution logos on the web that would fit nicely in the userboxes as well as the Hasbro and Kenner articles. Cheers, SentryTalk 06:38, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Jar Jar Binks

Hello, Sentry. I'm just going around to a few Wookiepedians who's opinions I respect, and asking them for their opinion. I'm close to submitting Jar Jar Binks to FA, and I was just wondering if you could give me your opinion. .... 07:25, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I can look into it. I should warn you, however, that I may be somewhat biased. I am not exactly Jar Jar's greatest fan ;-) –SentryTalk 07:59, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

RFA

You've been nominated for adminship at the RFA page. Please state whether or not you accept the nomination. =) --Imp 21:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Wow, I didn't expect that. Hmmm… I am going to need to think about it a bit. I will give you an answer tonight.–SentryTalk 22:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I really hadn't even considered becoming an admin before and I am quite humbled by the nomination. It has been a rather tough decision for me to choose whether or not to accept it because I am a perfectionist and I tend to take this sort of thing quite seriously. It is a rather large commitment and wanted to be sure that I was prepared for the extra responsibility. After some though, I have decided to accept the nomination :) –SentryTalk 06:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Proposal

Sentry, I have a question, how exactly does someone make a proposed userbox or proposed award official? Brain40 10:43, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

  • All that you have to do is create the award or userbox proposal and then post them on Wookieepedia:Award Proposals or Wookieepedia:Userbox proposal. The community will then be allowed to vote for two weeks in order to decide whether or not to accept the proposal. At the end of that deadline, the proposal will either be removed from the page or it will become an official award/userbox. I hope that answers you question :) –SentryTalk 22:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I pretty much knew that, but who exactly makes them official, is it automatic, or does someone do it themself? User:Brain40/Sig. 19:00, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
      • No it isn't automatic. Usually an admin makes the proposal official, but other users can do it as well. In the case of userbox proposals and some awards, a template has to be created, but the majority of award proposals are simply moved from the proposal page to the Wookieepedia:Awards page once they are made official.–SentryTalk 01:00, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
        • How exactly does one make them official, (technically speaking)? Brain40 21:37, 3 ovember 2006 (UTC)
          • What do you mean? As I said above, approved userbox proposals and some award proposals, require the creation of a template, but the majority of award proposals are made official simply by moving them from the proposal page to the Wookieepedia:Awards page once they are approved by the community.–SentryTalk 07:10, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
          • What I meant was, how does someone make a template out of a userbox or award proposal? Brain40 12:21, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
            • Alright, you can create a template in the same way that you would create another page. The only difference is that a template page is created with the "Template:" prefix in front of the name. So if you wanted to create a template named "newTemplate", you would create a page named Template:NewTemplate. Then, you would just add the code from the userbox or award proposal to the template page and save it.–SentryTalk 23:27, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

501st sizing

In case you were wondering, I'd initially made the 501st userbox a larger size to provide a better view of the 501st logo. I was unaware of any sizing restrictions for userboxes. Since the voting, so far, has been unanimously in favour of the box I thought you'd like to know that I feel that your slightly smaller box is better than the one by Xwing, and if you want to use that size when you recommend the 501st box to the admins (since you seem to be the one doing most of that lately), go ahead.Tocneppil 04:52, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the help with the latin language logo. I got busy while I was doing it and probably forgot to finish it. I did have a question though, how can I get the logos to line up in two rows? It looks like it's almost there on my user page, but the last button is wrong.

PS, I cleaned up some of the Darth Malak article. I mainly redid the grammar, fixed some small spelling mistakes, and reworded a few things to make it flow better. Where should I post that though, other than here?

ChinaMonroe 02:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Your welcome =) As for your question about userboxes, you can arrange them in a single column using {{userboxtop}} and {{userboxbottom}}. If you want them to line up in two rows, you will need to use a table:
{| border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:auto;"
|-
|
{| border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"
|-
|{{user IE}}
|-
|{{user sw-2}}
|-
|{{user addicted}}
|-
|{{user grey}}
|}
|
{| border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"
|-
|{{user NoZodiac}}
|-
|{{user female}}
|-
|{{Lang|la|U}}
|-
|{{user video games}}
|}
|}

PS: Great job on the Malak article. It has needed a decent copyedit for some time… –SentryTalk 06:10, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Awards

Sentry, I proposed an award on the award proposals page, and it has eleven votes for it, and no objections, and it has been on the proposals page for about over a week, can it become official now? Brain40 20:00, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Sorry, but I am not really the person to ask… Usually it takes two weeks for a proposal to become official.–SentryTalk 04:57, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

RE:Templates

I saw your message on my talk page, and I'm sorry for that little problem I caused. You see, the reason for this little problem is because I wanted to create userboxes on my user page so the people who see my user page would know a little about me. And thanks to those templates, I had to erase my entire page, so what I'm saying is, I am sorry, and I will try to be a little more careful in the future.--Humantoo 20:27, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

  • In most cases, there is no need to create custom templates for your user page. We already have a {{User infobox}} template and a number of available userboxes (see Wookieepedia:Template messages/User namespace/#Userboxes). Custom userboxes can also be created with the four templates listed on: Wookieepedia:Userboxes. If you are having trouble understanding how templates work, feel free to check out a brief tutorial I wrote a while back: User:Sentry/Template help. If you need any further help with your user page, feel free to ask me. Cheers, SentryTalk 00:04, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Template help

Hey Sentry, hopefully you can help me:

I'm working on {{bookcover}}, trying to have it add articles to Category:Foreign book covers if any variable is added, such as {{bookcover|Japanese}}. That works. However, I don't want it to add them to Category:Book covers if they are already in the foreign category. Right now, it adds all of them to Category:Book covers. That redundancy is what I'm trying to fix. Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks! —Xwing328(Talk) 18:45, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Alright, it should work now. It adds pages to Category:Foreign book covers if a parameter is defined. Otherwise it adds them to Category:Book covers. Cheers, SentryTalk 22:24, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
