Reminder about copy-editing the Hero of Tython as you requested, and thanks for the help. Cade Calrayn GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit 05:03, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Reminder to self to start on this tomorrow. Advanced Jedi Training Droid 6 (Talk to my master) 05:19, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
Started with the intro tonight. I started a subsection in the Comments section of the nomination page for notes; please keep an eye on that for questions (like the one there now). Any further discussion of this can be done there. —MJ— Council Chambers 05:09, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Ando (star) in Insider 132

Hi Master Jonathan! Could you please tell me if in the Blaster section of Star Wars Insider 132 there is a picture of Ando Prime's sun? Thanks! Imperators II(Talk) 15:19, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, while I'm on the subject of Ando (star), is there any info on it (info, pictures, anything) in the section of The Essential Reader's Companion concerning the NJO novel Edge of Victory I: Conquest? Thanks again! Imperators II(Talk) 15:53, November 23, 2012 (UTC)
Negative on the ERC. On Insider, there is a copy of a Dawn of the Jedi comic page depicting a large object (structure? ship?) shaped like a pyramid and a number of individuals in hooded robes seen from the back walking toward it and into it, with the narration, "They heard the call in their hearts, in their minds. Not with word, yet as a voice. Heard in stillness when all was in balance. An invitation." There is a sun in the background next to the "They heard the call in their hearts, in their minds." narration box, but no context is given to identify the planet or the sun. That's all I can tell you. —MJ— Comlink 05:10, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! In the comic itself, the previous page identifies the scene as the Order of Dai Bendu monks entering the Tho Yor starship on the planet Ando Prime; I just needed to confirm if that specific page was in the Blaster. Again, many thanks! Imperators II(Talk) 08:47, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

Can you add an Amazon link to Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Ahsoka In Action!208.116.46.88 03:24, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

Amazon.com is whitelisted, so you should be able to add the link yourself. :) —MJ— Training Room 04:51, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
Its not working!!! Unsigned comment by 208.116.46.88 (talk • contribs)
First off, the filter you're triggering isn't set up to disallow the edit, only issue a warning which can be bypassed by clicking "Save page" again. Second, you can avoid triggering the filter altogether by removing ref=sr_1_12 and everything after it from the URL. That stuff isn't needed, as the resulting truncated URL will still take you to the same page, so it only serves to clutter up the edit box, and the ref= is specifically what's triggering the filter. —MJ— Holocomm 01:52, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

No little questions

Hey there, MJ. Did you read Jedi Apprentice: The Hidden Past in its entirely for the Padawan birthday ritual article? Do you remember anything to answer this anon's question? NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 21:09, December 8, 2012 (UTC)

I've read every Jedi Apprentice book in their entirety multiple times. :P That question was one that I could answer without even looking at the book (but I still checked it anyway to be sure). The sourcing has been adjusted and a couple of {{Fact}} tags have been added. —MJ— War Room 02:00, December 9, 2012 (UTC)
Well okay then. :D Glad we could sort that out. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 02:05, December 9, 2012 (UTC)

re: removing content

sorry about that, i was just removing content i thought innapropriate for this wiki. I like editing the rancor page, rancors are epic -Ambrose4803

If you believe that a page should not exist, the proper way to pursue removal is through the trash compactor. However, you should first be aware that we cover all official material, no matter how silly, and also that Wookieepedia is not censored. —MJ— Comlink 21:29, December 10, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Moving Pages

Hi, I have been made aware that the talk pages must be moved with pages, however when I attempted to move the page a bot notified me that this action had been identified as vandalism. With no other way of moving the page I decided to create the new page. Sorry. Rokkur Shen (talk) 03:40, December 12, 2012 (UTC)

Ah, I see. We have a filter to prevent new users from moving pages until their account is four days old and has 50 edits. However, the correct response to being unable to move a page is never to cut and paste it. If you can't move the page yourself, then ask someone who can to do it for you, because cut-and-paste moves must be repaired. (By the way, I'm going to create a new warning for that filter that better explains the issue and why one shouldn't cut and paste.) —MJ— War Room 05:34, December 12, 2012 (UTC)

Image captions

As I browse through Wookieepedia and read the captions on images, I see that they either have a punctuation or they don't; what is the official rule/policy on these image captions: is it preferred they have a punctuation or that they don't? Vanoden (talk) 02:22, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

Image captions should end with a period if and only if the caption is a complete sentence. If the caption is not a complete sentence, then no period should be used. Let me know if you have any other questions. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 02:31, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

Star Wars: Day-At-A-Time Calendar 2013

Just thought I'd let you know why I removed the fact tag. Tol Cressa

Hey Jon, been a while, how are ya? Could you please give Tol Cressa a copy-edit and review? Thanks in advance.—Jedi Kasra ("Indeed.") 18:54, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

Done. Objections:
  • The intro ends with a comma instead of a period. Is this a typo or did you forget to finish it?
    • It was supposed to be a period.
  • I inserted a {{Fact}} tag in the first sentence of the second paragraph of the bio. KotOR 49 doesn't support that.
    • I fixed that, an oversight on my part.
  • The statement that he was "still in office by the end of the Dark Wars" is intro-exclusive.
    • I checked this statement once more, and it wasn't backed by anything. Omitted.
415 words pending the objections. Let me know if you have any questions. —MJ— Comlink 19:26, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

Unidentified clone trooper (Post 473)

Hey Jon, could you please give Unidentified clone trooper (Post 473) a copy-edit and review? Thanks in advance.—Jedi Kasra ("Indeed.") 22:46, December 20, 2012 (UTC)

Done. Objections:
  • Avoid linking in the bolded text at the start of the intro. If that is the first mention of something, then it should be linked on the next mention.
    • Done.
  • "The clone was tasked with destroying a bridge which would enable a Separatist droid convoy to cross over and conquer a mining colony.": This makes it sound like the clone was aiding the Separatists in conquering the colony. Reword it to make it clearer that he's hindering the Separatists.
    • Done.
  • The Dutch version of the article appears to have a name for the clone. Check the comic closely to see if "22K" could possibly be interpreted as a name; failing that, check with LelalMekha (who can speak Dutch) to see what the Dutch article says and if it might be wrong.
  • You're missing the BTS.
    • Thanks for that catch, that's particularly embarrassing.
That's all from me. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 02:07, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

Unidentified Rebel Alliance base (Datar)

Hey, MJ. Thanks for alerting me to the "verify" tag that Borsk put up. I was on vacation when he did so (and when you alerted me), so I missed my window of opportunity to verify the article to his liking. It should be fairly easy to do so with the sources listed at Attack at Datar, though. Is it possible to restore the article so I can fix it up? Or should I redo it from scratch? Thanks, ~SavageBOB sig 16:04, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

  • Come to think of it, the title would perhaps be more accurate as Unidentified Rebel Alliance outpost (Datar). If possible, you could just dump the original contents on my talk page, here, or at that title, and I can be sure to source that there was indeed an outpost there. Thanks again! ~SavageBOB sig 16:05, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
    • And... further investigation of the Attack at Datar article has revealed some sourcing problems. Hold off on recreating or creating any new articles, but if you can salvage my original text about the base here or on my talk page, I can do some work on both articles. Sorry for the multiposts. :) ~SavageBOB sig 16:09, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Titles

I'm not sure when it comes to wars or larger conflicts because we don't have a solid precedent for that, but to be honest, I don't see any reason why "Young–Elders war" shouldn't be capitalized. After the fact, it's still a conjectural name, and the reader will know that. It seems more proper to capitalize conflict names, in any case. CC7567 (talk) 19:25, December 27, 2012 (UTC)

OK, thanks. I'll move it back for now after I take care of something else, but we should probably start a community discussion soon to formally standardize it one way or the other. —MJ— Comlink 19:28, December 27, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Award

Jonathan, I am extremely humbled and grateful for the award you have bestowed upon me. I also got a good laugh at the original and entertaining way you chose to present it -- well done! I had completely forgotten about our first interaction, but it's pretty funny looking back on now. :P That just shows that even for people who start off on the wrong foot, collaboration wins out in the end when you put forth the effort. It has been a pleasure working with you on Wookieepedia, and I'm proud to say that we have become friends through it all. You have done well in your own journey toward adminship, and I am glad I was able to assist you in even the smallest way to that end. Many, many thanks once more for the award and for your support on the nomination. Have a wonderful New Years. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 03:17, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Categorization

I didn't expect different opinion from you, to be honest. When I said I want to hear others' opinions, I meant the progressive administrators, like CC, JangFett or Xd, not the "delete-everything-that-non-administrators-created" admins. If you do not want to have useful categories, let it be. My only purpose is to develop the Wiki, if you are not partners in it, I don't really care. Still, thanks for the professional response, and no offense! :) Best wishes, --XXLVenom998 (talk) 08:15, January 2, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, I want to apologize for what I said above, I can be quite quick-tempered sometimes. I do not want offense, and I respect you admins. I'm really sorry. I see now that there's no point in fighting above it. Please forgive me. Hope we can co-operate in the future. Best wishes, --XXLVenom998 (talk) 19:38, January 2, 2013 (UTC)

Reactivating my ancient account

After a two-year hiatus, I decided to return to the community as Azra Namor. This plan encountered substantial difficulties early on, such as requesting a password reset, then realizing I could not for the life of me remember what email address I had been using. Is there any way to reset the contact email to aceschneck@yahoo.com? I'd hate for two years of editing history to go to waste. 98.201.110.21 05:56, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Local admins can't do that, but Wikia Staff might be able to. Ask Grunny; he's a staff member and might be able to help you. —MJ— Council Chambers 15:52, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Image mistake

Hey Master Jay. Sorry to disturb you, but I've made a mistake in naming an uploaded file. As you can seen by inspecting that picture (File:StarSpeeder1000_Kashyyyk.png), it is obviously not Kashyyyk at all. Could you fix it, since I'm apparently not allowed to rename images? Thanks. --LelalMekha (talk) 23:40, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Done. In the future, you can use {{FTBR}} to request that an admin rename a file. —MJ— Holocomm 23:43, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll remember that. --LelalMekha (talk) 23:46, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Outdent

Hi there! I've seen you know you way around MediaWiki, so I wanted to ask you something. I was meaning to import Wikipedia's {{Outdent}} template for usage in long discussions, but some weird error pops up. Any clue as to what it might be? Stake black msg 13:07, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

I can probably help you, but first I need to know exactly what error you're getting. It would also help to see your attempt at implementing it for myself so I can examine it. On a quick look at the Wikipedia template, though, I don't see anything that indicates why it wouldn't work, though it may be necessary to track down what class="outdent-template" refers to (most likely CSS). —MJ— War Room 05:40, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
When I try to preview what it'd be like, this error page shows up: Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information. Stake black msg 17:45, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Which is something that requires direct access to the server to do. Walk me through what you're doing, step by tiny step, in as much detail as you can. There's no such thing as too much detail here. A screenshot of the whole error screen might help. Also, try dropping the full code of your version of the template here using <code><nowiki>...</nowiki><code> so I can see it for myself. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 18:22, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
I copied Wikipedia's original {{Outdent}} template word by word. When I tried to preview it, the only message given was the one I posted above. To be sure, this is the exact code that was input:

<span class="outdent-template" style="display:block; margin-top:-0.5em; color:#AAA;"><!-- --><span style="display:inline-block; overflow:hidden;">┌</span><!-- --><span style="display:inline-block; overflow:hidden; width:{{{{{|safesubst:}}}#switch:{{{1|}}} |:=0.8 |::=2.4 |:::=4.0 |::::=5.6 |:::::=7.2 |::::::=9 |:::::::=10.6 |::::::::=12 |:::::::::=13.6 |::::::::::=15.2 |:::::::::::=16.8 |::::::::::::=18.4 |:::::::::::::=20 |::::::::::::::=21.6 |:::::::::::::::=23.2 |::::::::::::::::=24.8 |:::::::::::::::::=26.4 |::::::::::::::::::=28 |:::::::::::::::::::=29.6 |::::::::::::::::::::=31.2 |#default={{#expr:{{{1|10}}}*1.6-0.8}}}}em;"><!-- -->────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────</span><!-- --><span style="display:inline-block; overflow:hidden;">┘</span><!-- --></span><!-- --><span>{{{{{|safesubst:}}}#if:{{{2|}}}|([[Wikipedia:Indentation#Outdenting|outdent]]) }}</span><noinclude> {{Documentation}} </noinclude> Stake black msg 19:07, January 9, 2013 (UTC) ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I tried it on my test wiki, and it worked there (see here and here. I then tried it here on Wookieepedia at {{Outdent}} and it worked here as well (see immediately above this comment). Whatever error you were getting must have been a temporary server or database error that has since been fixed. I'll add documentation and support for bullets to the template in a few minutes. —MJ— Council Chambers 19:54, January 9, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Ref deprecation

I ended up just emptying the cache and restarting Safari, and there's still been no effect. I don't know what else to do, man. IFYLOFD (Floyd's crib) 06:00, January 9, 2013 (UTC)

Can you upload a screenshot of what you're seeing? Get both an infobox reference and a succession box reference. It might help me diagnose the issue. —MJ— War Room 06:04, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll try. IFYLOFD (Floyd's crib) 06:06, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Infobox

Infobox

Succession box

Succession box

Here you go. Does this look unusual? IFYLOFD (Floyd's crib) 06:23, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Not really. The crucial piece of information I can glean from those is that you are getting the CSS correctly, otherwise the references in the header of the succession box would be bold and much larger. My guess is that Safari is interpreting the font size differently. The original Ref template used 7.5pt as the font size, but the new CSS uses 9px because when I tested it in Firefox, putting 7.5pt in actually made the references slightly larger. Try this: put the following in your Special:MyPage/monobook.css:
div.infobox .reference, /* infoboxes */
.refadjust .reference { /* succession boxes, anything else which has class="refadjust" */
	font-size: 7.5pt;
}
That will override the site-wide font size and set it back to the size previously defined in {{Ref}}. Then bypass your cache and tell me if you see anything different. —MJ— War Room 06:30, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Did that, still not seeing a change. Maybe its just me. Sorry dude. IFYLOFD (Floyd's crib) 06:48, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
OK, then it doesn't sound like there's much I can do. This is just a difference between browsers and how they handle CSS. No two browsers are exactly the same, and Safari is no longer available for Windows users, so I can't debug it myself without buying a whole new computer, which I already did once today. :P Your screenshots show that it's working to the extent that all the references in the succession box are properly formatted and show up as the same size regardless of the formatting and size of the text they are attached to, so it's really not that large of an issue worth calling off the whole operation. You'll just have to deal with slightly larger references as a trade-off to not having to use, or tell new editors to use, {{Ref}} anymore. —MJ— War Room 06:59, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Safari is so available for Windows. Just not Safari 6, and not in any obvious place. :P -- Darth Culator (Talk) 07:17, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, but unfortunately that does not list Windows 8, which I am now using, as a supported OS under "system requirements". I may see if it works tomorrow, though. —MJ— Comlink 07:33, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
OK, it does work with Windows 8. I brought up the same page you were looking at, Floyd, and I see no difference. Safari has an "Inspect Element" feature similar to Firefox, and a check of that shows that it's getting the same font size that Firefox gets. Maybe a Mac versus Windows issue? I don't know. Like I said, I'm going to treat it as minor browser or OS differences and not let it hold things up. —MJ— Comlink 17:02, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
OK, fair enough. IFYLOFD (Floyd's crib) 18:13, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
