Boodle

This guy was putting out porn links on a couple of pages at SWFanon. As I can see, he's starting to attack you guys as well. You should probably block him now before he causes serious trouble. --FireV 00:41, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll block him once he touches anything outside of his talk page. ;) --Imp 00:46, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Good plan. :) --FireV 00:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Ugluk.

Can you please ban him for a personal attack he made against me on IRC? The personal attack was "fuck you jack", for the record. --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 19:52, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

  • When? Also, could you provide a transcript? --Imp 19:54, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Message from Master Nikolce

Hello Imp, can i ask you something: Why have you been recently removing these [[{Article name}]] from the quote of the day quotes, a few from the quotes i added? And what do you mean by "Doesn't comply with WP:MOS"? I mean, the quotes i added, make sence don't they? --Master Nikolce 10:15, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I didn't modify any Quote of the Day quotes, that must've been someone else. I did remove links from a couple of quotes in articles though. As for the WP:MOS thing, I'm talking about the Manual of Style, which is an official Wookieepedia policy. It states the following about quotes:
Redundant internal links should not be added to quotes because they serve little purpose beyond making the quotes appear cluttered and messy. Links should only be added to quotes if they contain a specific article's ONLY mention of a particular concept, but even then, it is be better to integrate the internal link into the body of the article's text.
Piped links should be avoided as much as possible. If the context of the quote is not readily apparent, it is best to add appropriate information to the quote attribution field of the quote template rather than adding piped links to ambiguous pronouns such as "you", "he", or "they".
  • Many of the QOTD nominees violate these two, especially the piping part and the cluttered links part. --Imp 13:33, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
    • But is that reaon to vote against the quotes? Can't you just put it in the comment sections instead? --KEJ 20:55, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
      • Yes, it is. We shouldn't feature content that doesn't even follow our policies. =) --Imp 21:04, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
        • Tsk tsk, Scandinavians... always so strict with the rules :-P At least, you could remove your vote from those that have been fixed. --KEJ 21:23, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  • I have been fixing the violations of quite a few of these quotes but not all. And Imperialles, could you please update the vote counts when you vote for or against a quote? I had to go back and fix many of them when you marked things for Manual of Style violations. --- breathesgelatinTalk 22:19, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Merging

I have a question, what are the exact steps in merging articles? --Brain40 (Sarlacc victim chat) 11:32, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

  • There's no standard procedure, but here's what I would do: First add {{mergeto|Articlename}} at the top of the article you want to merge into another. Then add {{mergefrom|Articlename}} to the article you wish the first article be merged into. Then make a new discussion header on the talk page of one of the pages where people can discuss and/or vote for the move. If you reach an agreement, the page is moved. --Imp 21:27, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

CheckUser status on Wookieepedia

Sorry, but it wouldn't be fair to users to decrease their level of privacy by allowing non-staff to have checkuser access so this isn't something we're going to give out. However, if you do need someone to look into sockpuppet issues, feel free to contact staff via Special:Contact. --Angela (talk)

  • I was just asking since I heard StarNeptune got CheckUser on the Star Wars Fanon wiki, and she's not staff either. --Imp 00:03, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Just to say.

Just making a point about this petty microediting. Suppose it does matter that I do it, though...heh. I'm sorry, I'll stop, and promise to never do it again. --SOCL(talk) 00:00, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Well editing Wookieepedia to prove a point is silly. Though I agree with you to some extent... :P Anyway, nothing to apologize for. --Imp 00:03, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I only apologized because, despite the fact I did it, I realize it was silly, pointless, and, ulimately petty. But still... --SOCL 00:28, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
  • On a seperate matter, I'm trying to upload a new version of the image I'm using for my user profile, but it keeps uploading the old. I have a new, improved version, but every time I try to, it tells me a file by that same name still exists. So then I hit the Save button anyway, thinking, yeah, it'll upload the new image over the old one...only to find the old one is still there! I know that replacing one image with another can be done—I've done it in the past for an image of a scan of a letter sent to me by Tim Zahn. I am doing something wrong? Should I upload the new one on a different page and just request the old me deleted, or...?--SOCLUser talk:SOCL|comm]] 00:45, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
  • User:Jaina Solo and I have the same problems. For some reason, certain pictures don't update. For example, I'm having trouble with the main image on the Aggressor-class destroyer article. --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 00:51, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I went ahead and uploaded the new one on a different page. I just need to find someone to delete the old one... --SOCLcomm 00:53, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
      • Not sure, but I think that's just a cache issue, and usually updates itself after a little while. --Azizlight 01:29, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
        • It's a cache issue alright. =) --Imp 16:20, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Ship names

Hey. I saw that you made a small change to the Kuratcha article, removing the definite articles. You put WP:MOS as the reason, but the current position is to have a definite articles, I believe. --Eyrezer 00:02, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

  • They must have changed it then. Sorry! --Imp 05:08, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I'd originally taken it out myself then put it back in, that's why I was confused! :) --Eyrezer 22:28, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Vulpus

Done. --Adamwankenobi 19:16, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks! --Imp 19:17, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Help.

Imp, Kuralyov posted on his talk page that I threatened him. Well, I did no such thing. I'm asking you to remove that from his page if he doesn't. --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I can't remove it from his page. It is his opinion. --Imp 19:57, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
    • But it's a lie. He's blaming me for something a vandal must have done. --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 20:03, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
      • That may be, but I can't force him to believe differently. I mean, Atarumaster states on his userpage that he suspects that many admins are in a cabal together, and some of us are "thinly veiled tyrants". Far from true, but we can't force him to remove it. --Imp 20:10, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
  • May I just point out that I never mentioned any names- precluding the possibility of a personal attack. Unlike certain others who have already been mentioned. I wouldn't post anything that had a specific user's name on my own user page. And I never said ANY admin was a thinly veiled tyrant. I said they "can easily be"- meaning it's possible. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 04:01, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Relax, Ataru. I was just using it as an example of an untrue accusation, not as an example of a personal attack. --Imp 05:25, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Revan Changes

Hey Imp, hopefully I won't be too much of a bother, I've just got a few questions about the recent changes you've been making to the Revan article. Specifically with the "Legacy" bit.

Some of the changes are fair enough, it was a quick write up that I'd tried to make interesting to read and I probably did go a bit over the top with the exact choice of phrasing. Fan wankery though? :'( I'm hurt... :P... I suppose the "greatest Sith master of his generation" thing WAS a little gushy though. Apologies. (Though honestly, who else comes close in that generation? :P Exar Kun was in the previous generation)

Subtitle Change

Why did it need changing? Whilst Revan didn't remain a Dark Lord of the Sith, that section deals specifically with his legacy to the future generations of Sith, and his role as a previous Sith ruler. It's also a more interesting title, though that's only my opinion of course.

Darth Krayt reference.

Huh? Was that just a mistake or is there something that happened in legacy that I'm missing?

Making the language less... urm, flowery/evocative

Is this new policy? If so fair enough, but if not then why bother changing "All but destroy the Jedi Order" to "nearly destroy the Jedi Order". They both mean the exact same thing... only the first sounds cooler :P

Anyway, I think that's me done. --Ulicus 14:19, 20 October 2006 (UTC))

  • Hehe, no trouble at all. While the original article was great, no doubt there, it contained some hyperbole in my opinion. Not necessarily a bad thing, but remember that we are an encyclopedia, so we have to keep things neutral and balanced. For example, the Palpatine article is a wonderful read, but it's not particularly neutral. As for the "greatest Sith Master of his generation" bit, I did remove it becuase it was a tad "gushy", but mostly because it's speculation (especially with the exciting hints at the "True Sith" in KotOR II...), as there could have been more powerful Sith lurking around... (I certainly hope so :D) I renamed that header from "Legacy of a Dark Lord" because I am hoping to expand that section, adding some of his non-Sith legacy as well (I haven't had time before now). Certainly adding this information to the already existing "Legacy" header would make more sense than making a "General legacy" section. :P The Darth Krayt reference I did not add, but I agree it looks rather suspicious. As for making the language less "flowery", I guess I tend to get a bit aggressive when editing. The thing is, I have a really minimalist writing style, and I tend to insert it into articles I edit. I apologize, some of those changes were a bit uncalled for. I hope that answers all your questions. Should there be more, shoot! --Imp 15:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Will do, thanks for your time. Sorry about the mix up with the Krayt thing... I thought I'd checked the history properly. Obviously not. Maybe someone thought it was talking about Darth Bane's holocron or something... *confuddlement* As for the title... haha, I almost want to have a "Legacy of a Dark Lord" section followed by a "Legacy of a Jedi Knight" section JUST so I can keep that damn dark lord subheading, but ok. Later dude. --Ulicus 18:20, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Birth dates

The information comes from the KOTOR II producers. I think it was Sikon who first brought it up, so he might have the links to the actual sources. Kuralyov 00:48, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Alright, thanks. --Imp 00:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Juhani

If you truly believe that this article is credible in its entirety then you must have very little knowledge of this game and/or its characters. Approving an article with so much bogus information only serves to damage the credibility of this website. --67.142.130.13 13:04, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Err, I too think it's a mess. I just protected it from anonymous editing because it is quite frequently vandalized. Feel free to register and edit all you want! =) --Imp 13:07, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

A small request

Greetings! Uh, I'm relatively new here, having just registered yesterday. I've used this wiki a lot in the past, and felt I might be able to contribute some, so... The thing is, I used to have an account, waaay back, but I didn't even use it more than once or twice, and I was uncomfortable with using it now. Thus, I created a new account instead (I do hope that's allowed). I was just wondering if I could have my old account deleted, or something like that (the account name was "DanRiley", no quotes)? Sorry for the trouble --Mediatingmentor 14:05, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Deleting an account is beyond my powers unfortunately. It really is no big deal, unless you use both accounts in votes and such (thereby boosting your side). I suggest we just forget about the old account, but if you really want it deleted I can have a chat with the "higher-ups" of Wikia. --Imp 14:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I see, then. I don't really want it gone, no, I just wasn't sure if having two accounts and such was alllowed. If it's no big deal, I can just forget it (heh, and no, I vouldn't be unfair in voting). Thanks, in any case --Mediatingmentor 14:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Tagging sourceless images

Hi Imp! I noticed you had tagged a couple of sourceless images with {{sources}}, however that places them in the sourceless article category. For images, there is the {{no source}} template. Just so you know, if you didn't already :) --Tinwe 16:40, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

  • My mistake. I was simply too lazy to find the correct template. I'll use the correct one from now on. --Imp 15:14, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Saevio Metatron

  • Found him: he's a created character on the Starsider server: [1] --82.39.244.58 17:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Really long link --82.39.244.58 17:37, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
      • Cheers! Y'know, I used to be employed by a Starsider community website... good times. I'll delete the good Zabrak. --Imp 17:42, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Lando

  • What do you think of what I've done with him so far? I still have more to expand, but I've been working at it. Is this what you wanted? --Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 18:51, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Yeah, you're doing great. This is merely the beginning though. I'm going to create a page where we can discuss our little project—would you be opposed to turning this into a WookieeProject? I'm currently working on minor grammatical mistakes, and will soon be moving onto a full spell check. Then I'll fix all the excessive links and source all quotes. I'll ask around for some Marvel comic scans as well—it appears to me some of his adventures aren't even mentioned yet. =) --Imp 18:56, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
      • I can't help too much with Marvel, but I'd be happy to work on it as part of a WookieeProject. I know that when I was working on Wedge or Luke it'd be frustrating to be the only working on it. For your spell check, I suggest you try some of the editors who worked on the Great Typo Hunt. As for other writers, I suggest User:thefourdotelipsis, User:Jaina Solo, and if you can get him, User:Erik Pflueger. Those are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 15:12, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
        • I'll talk to the people you mentioned. Spelling and such I can handle on my own, what we need is great writers. Once we get one or two more people involved I'll start the WookieeProject page. Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Improvement Cabal? --Imp 22:48, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
          • Wow, that was funny- as long as it was a joke. ;-0. I suggest a different title though. I realize it's quite a challenge, but could you look at the objection on Luke Skywalker sometime- I've done a huge amount of writing on it and I'm having a hard time doing the copyediting that's requested. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 23:36, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
            • See also User:Atarumaster88/NEGTC project for a list of what I eventually hope to do as part of this project. It just so happened our needs coincided. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 04:33, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
              • Hehe, yeah, it was a joke. I'll definitely copyedit Luke as soon as possible. That list would be perfect for our project—maybe we can export it to the WookieeProject page and use it as a basis for our work. --Imp 06:14, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
                • That'd be fine with me. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 16:14, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
                  • May I suggest that you have two columns for the project- one for editors and one for writers? I've added some more to Lando, and I'm about to work on it some more. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 21:34, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
                    • Yep, that's what I'm planning to do. --Imp 21:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

You objected to Time travel being a good article because it lacked pics. I've now added four so you might like to have another look. Cheers. --Eyrezer 08:45, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Objection removed. Nice work. --Imp 22:43, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Sarlacc good article nom.

Hi Imp, I re-worked the anatomy section of the sarlacc article, as you had objected to the grammar in that section on WP:GA. If you don't mind, I'd like you to review it and possibly revise your vote. Thanks! --Xwing328(Talk) 18:10, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

FA for Jar Jar

I think I've fixed all of the dashes that needed fixing. Also, the new content I've added on my user page, the Rant, am I allowed to have something so heavily opinionated on there? .... 04:30, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

  • So...did I get all the dashes? .... 08:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

WookieProject

I will most certainly join - I mean, – ;), but I'm not exactly going through the NEGTC (though it is sitting in front of me at the moment). I'm going through the characters in order of appearance, so our causes may fishtail at times, which is good. I'm about to start work on Captain Obvious, so that will benefit the WookieProject. Anyway, what do I have to do to join? .... 22:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Of course, just add whatever article you're working on to the Works in progress header, and we will help you out. We will however try and focus mostly on the Main focus (Lando for now). In order to join, simply agree to help out a little with the main focus, and work on some of the articles on the list when you feel like it. --Imp 22:36, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Imp, I've done some more work on Lando again. I think the things left on him are from the Thrawn trilogy, Daala's books, Planet of Twilight, and Young Jedi Knights. I'll keep working on it, but I keep getting what happened when mixed up and I don't have the books in front of me. Working on that.Someone else should check up on YJK and Marvel Star Wars though; I'm not familiar with those. Thanks for your help and for starting the project. P.S. My "rant" was changed awhile ago. ;-) Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 06:31, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I've expanded Gial Ackbar about as much as I can. If you can copyedit it and let me know if I missed something, that'd be great. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 05:08, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I'll do it as soon as I get home. I'll finish Luke and the final project page this weekend, too. --Imp 06:16, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Imp, I've just borrowed the first two books of the original Thrawn trilogy, so I will be expanding characters using those this weekend. I'll let you know if I need anything else. Thanks for the help. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 22:49, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
    • And I've done Ric Olie. .... 22:53, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Still friends, by any chance?

Hey, Imp, I've been noticing that you've been reverting some of my edits. While I see why you're doing that, I was just hoping you didn't have a grudge against me or anything. --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 15:33, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

  • And I have to ask you: Why does it seem everyone around here thinks headshots are better? --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 15:35, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm not reverting things to be mean or anything, I'm just following our policies, as well as recent consensus. The problem with File:Fel Real 2.jpg is that it has ugly .jpg artifacts, and is only 219px wide, whereas most infobox pics are 250px wide. The scan errors on File:Roan Fel.jpg however, are much smaller, and are not as visible when resized from it's large size to 250px. If that makes any sense. I don't have a grudge, no worries. Glad to have you back. =) --Imp 15:42, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Me, too. Anyway, thanks for uploading the newer version—it's much better. But I have to ask for a favor. Could you please stop Thefourdotelipsis's vendetta to get rid of all full-body images? --Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 15:47, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
        • Hehe... well, as long as the new images he uploads are of better quality it should be no problem. I can only tell him to discuss the changes he plans in advance, letting other users voice their opinions. --Imp 15:49, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

OOM-9 image.

Talkheader

That's a great idea! I don't quite know how to implement such a thing, but I'm sure that someone like Sentry does. Also, in the Senate Hall, I put up an idea for article assessment, which could be attached to the Talkheader template also. You might want to take a look. .... 22:57, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I can't seem to find the topic in the Senate Hall. Hmm... --Imp 23:05, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
    • It's called "Article Assessment". It's down a bit. .... 00:02, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Hey Imp, I borrowed the "leave me a message" template you have at the top of your talk page the other day for my own page. It's really nice. Do you think it would be appropriate to make it into an actual template that anyone can use? --Xwing328(Talk) 00:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Objections on FA noms

  • Can we bring this up in the Mofference? I mean, if there's a "junk" objection, are we obligated to fix it? What about Ugluk? He has at least one objection on a FA nom, but was blocked for a month and is highly unlikely to return. Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 18:41, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I'll definitely bring that up. I think it's safe to disregard an objection to which the objector fails to respond to after a month. --Imp 18:44, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
    • That's what I thought, but policy should probably better defined on that point. Thanks. I've done some more work on the WookieeProject. I'll get to all that Lando stuff tomorrow- the comics that is. Everything else seems to be done. Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 18:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Great. I'll help with the Marvel stuff for Lando. I won't be on as often though, because I'll be making several fishing voyages this week. I'll be back to normal activity on Friday. =) --Imp 18:50, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Pepsilon

I do not suport his unbanning one iota. He cannot be trusted, as he has shown the last time he asked to be unbanned, and immediately vandalized. If anyone account using his IPs vandalizes I will hope that all of his accounts be banned again without debate. Kuralyov 21:07, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll give him this chance. I think he may have decided to change his ways. Anyway, whatever damage he potentially could cause wouldn't take more than a minute to undo. =) --Imp 21:09, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • On the other hand, he has given us his IP addresses. If we can confirm with Wikia staff who have checkuser access that his last few accounts were from those IPs (which we may want to do), that shows a willingness to play by the rules and not be another anonymous vandal. Plus, we can then block those IPs for a long term if he starts up again. This wouldn't necessarily stop him (he's used open proxies before), but it could slow him down while he tries to find one that's easily accessible and not already blocked. One of our other serial vandals slowed down quite a bit after I gave up and blocked half of Italy for a couple of months...8) —Silly Dan (talk) 21:18, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I still don't like this. This guy spent half of summer vandalizing this site for up to an hour at a time before one of the admins finally blocked him. I don't like being so draconian, or so cliche, but I have a bad feeling about this. -- SFH 21:43, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm willing to watch how this plays out. It's easy enough to fix it if anything goes wrong. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 22:08, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
      • But Kowakian changed, SFH. He was the first Crumb vandal, spawning numerous sockpuppets. Then it all changed. I'm willing to give Pepsilon a try after witnessing Kowakian change. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 23:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
        • Besides, even when a serial vandal does strike- like what happened to me a few days ago- they are detected within a few minutes and I'd say most of the time, within 10 minutes they are banned and everything reverted, proving the real insignificance vandals are. Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 23:33, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Just checked with Wikia staff: those IPs are indeed Pepsilon's IPs. (One of them was used to edit a Pepsilon sock way back in June, and was blocked for three months, and the other is in the same city, so that makes sense.) Pepsilon has changed his name as well: we'll keep an eye on his new username. —Silly Dan (talk) 02:48, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Proposal: Deny recognition

I have started a admin's noticeboard thread about changing some administrative details about blocked user's pages here. Please look over the thread and add your comments: there have been no votes against it so far, but I don't have enough input to assume consensus and start deleting things. Thanks, —Silly Dan (talk) 15:53, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

speedy deletion

Hey, since the image has been ok'd, could you remove the speedy deletion thing for me? I would have done it but it says you're not supposed to if you created it in the first place. Here's the image name. File:A67.jpg --Leader 23:59, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll get right on it in a few minutes. I am working on a big expansion to the Lando Calrissian article right now, so I'll do it when I'm done. --Imp 00:10, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Mando fan subpage

  • For sake of consistency, why is a Mando fan subpage allowed, and not the subpage I had? They're virtually the same deal, unless I'm mistaken. --Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 15:46, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Your page was an organized fan fiction writing project, which is disallowed per WP:NOT. These guys just want to discuss Mandalorians, as far as I can tell. If it evolves in the wrong direction I'll stop it, but for now I'll allow it, per the user page policy. --Imp 15:57, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Okay. Just wanted it clarified because I was confused. --Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 17:14, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
        • I'm sorry about shutting your project down by the way, but I am obligated to follow policies. =) --Imp 17:16, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
          • Considering I'm working for you now on the Wookieeproject, saying I have no hard feelings is sort of moot! No, it's fine, really. In your place, I might have done the same thing. --Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 17:18, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
            • Good to hear. =) On a related note, I'm beginning to doubt my decision regarding the Mando club. I think I may have interpreted policy too liberally. --Imp 18:04, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
              • My biggest concern is that if we allowed an organized fanfic page for me or an organized page for the Fandalorians, we'd be setting a potentially dangerous precedent. It's kind of a mutated cross between a WookieeProject-in that it has a specific purpose and area of coverage- and a fan page. I'm not an admin, so I have very little say on the matter, though. --Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 20:11, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
                • Anyway, they moved their site, so that's irrelevant anyway. --Atarumaster88 (Audience Chamber) 23:08, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
                  • I must apologise for the Mando Clan thing, it was an idea thought of with the best intentions, but I quickly got the felling that it was not going to go down well amongst the community and the last thing I wanted to do was make something that would create more problems than it would solve , so I have removed it to SW Fanon. Once again sorry for any disruption caused :) --Joker1138(Mandalore) 11:42, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Delund

He qualifies as both Category:pilots and Category:Imperial military personnel. Why revert those changes? It only makes his block more complete. --Hobbie911 18:13, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

  • The thing is, it's excessive categorization; Category:Imperial Starfleet pilots is a subcategory of both Category:Pilots and Category:Imperial military personnel. =) --Imp 18:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Not to push the point, but isn't "excessive categorization" somewhat ESSENTIAL to an information database such as Wookieepedia? Delund is a pilot. He is also specifically an Imperial Starfleet pilot. It seems odd to argue in favor of perceived redundancy (which is what I'm doing), but at the same time, it doesn't because there are broad and specific categories that apply to just about everything. It would seem to me that if you axe placing Delund (a very minor character) in both a broader category and a specific category, then you are implicitly suggesting that there is less of a need for broad categorization. Which would go against the very nature of a site like this. Cheers. Hobbie911 18:40, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
      • It's silly. Would you say "Delund was a pilot in the Imperial Starfleet" or "Delund was a pilot, a member of the Imperial military, and a pilot in the Imperial Starfleet"? Also, how does this go against the nature of Wookieepedia? --Imp 18:54, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
        • Imp is right. If CategoryB is a subcat of CategoryA, then ArticleX need only be in CategoryB. To do otherwise would be redundant. – Aidje talk 20:49, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
          • Actually, it seems that the redundancy may lie squarely on Imp's side now that I give it some thought. In this case, he is actually suggesting that specificity is all that is necessary (i.e. Imperial Starfleet pilots) with regard to Delund. What if I removed that and simply put Delund in the Pilots category? Then would you argue that it is too broad? In essence, I suppose I'm wondering what is the point in having a Pilots or Imperial Military Personnel category if you're trying to avoid redundancy? Hobbie911 02:23, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
            • To categorize categories. Now please stop with your excessive categorization, you're generating a lot of work for everyone. --Imp 06:35, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
              • "To categorize categories"?! Precisely my point! The redundancy lies squarely in your argument! :) You argue against "excessive categorization" because it is "redundant," yet you admit that the very existence of such categories IS redundant! Now you understand my point that your views go against the very nature of an information database such as Wookieepedia. Take an encyclopedia, a dictionary, or a thesaurus; all example of information databases and all places where you not only find redundancy, but see it highlighted and intentionally utilized. The reason being, of course, that there is an inherent necessity to be THOROUGH. The reason Delund should be categorized under both Pilots and Imperial Starfleet Pilots is three-fold: 1.It's an accurate reflection of the character, who in general is a pilot and specifically an Imperial pilot. 2.It provides another outlet (via category) for his character to be researched and included. 3.It provides consistency for Wookieepedia, which only in turn increases the legitimacy of this fine resource. Hobbie911 15:47, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
                • Consistency? Imp is just telling you how we've always done this. I have a feeling that countering your arguments point for point would be somewhat useless. You don't seem very willing to listen. – Aidje talk 19:37, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Re:FA revamp

I apologize for the horribly slow reply — school has been taking over my life. Literally. It seems like a plan that would work, but shouldn't there be a greater girth of distinction between GA and FA articles somehow? I guess my question is this: what are the requirements for a GA to be promoted to FA? Also, what would be the process that the FA articles that are no longer worthy of its status go through? —Mirlen 00:36, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

  • In the proposed system, a FA would simply be an article that was featured on the main page at some point—it would mean nothing in terms of quality. GAs, on the other hand, will be the best articles on the site—FAs will simply be selected from the pool of GAs. There would of course be a system in place to remove GA status (but not FA status, since that means jack in this system). --Imp 18:48, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Ah, I see now. Huh...interesting. So it would be the GA articles that could be demoted of its status? —Mirlen 02:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Exactly. =) --Imp 05:55, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
        • That should satisfy those who didn't want the FA articles to be demoted just because they were FA. :P And would the GA articles go through an extensive peer review to get demoted or is a plan for that not yet in works? (I apologize if I ask too many questions for my own good. :P) —Mirlen 22:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
          • Yes, I am planning on implementing a system similar to Wikipedia's FA review for these new GAs. --Imp 22:47, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
            • I see. I'll keep an eye on the FA revamp for updates. Thanks! —Mirlen 05:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of Thug World Star Wars

I specifically stated that I objected to the deletion of this article because no one had specifically stated the prerequisites and notability for fan films, just because it is not Revelations does not mean it is not a product of interest for the people of this site, so I question why it was deleted without any kind of voting process when the objection was posted! N.Y.N.E.Comlink 19:10, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

  • There are notability requirements, see the WP:NOT policy. --Imp 19:34, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Ok I understand that there are notability requirements, but they are not specifically noted, so where is the line drawn for fan films, why is it that Troops which is an obvious spoof is ok, but the project that the Thug World guys did is not okay, that's all I'm asking, I'm looking for a justifiable reason for this to not be allowed when it does nothing more than direct interested users to another oppurtunity for star wars based material, so the only question I post is what are those specific requirements, at one point no one knew about Troops, or Revelations, but without available links people wouldn't know about them, so basically without available sites to link with how is that notability going to rise? N.Y.N.E.Comlink 14:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Consensus vs. Policy

Hey Imp, could you explain to me your view on consensus vs. policy, in relation to what I wrote on the admin page? Hopefully I can understand better. Thanks. —Xwing328(Talk) 19:43, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, I feel that page-by-page consensus should not override policy, because that would lead to chaos and wikiality. I do agree that not all things require policies, however. --Imp 19:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Right, I probably made a bad example. I was just trying to say that policy in some places just isn't necessary. —Xwing328(Talk) 19:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
      • In that case I completely agree with you—excessive policies is definitely not a good thing, but necessary policies should be enforced over page-by-page consensus in order to keep Wookieepedia operational and reliable. --Imp 20:00, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikia Featured Wiki

Hey Imperialles,

First I wanted to say that I love your site. You guys have done a great job and are leading the way with new great stuff for Wikia! I did want to mention though that Wookieepedia isn't really eligible to be the featured wikia since it has already been featured this year. I think it would be most fair to let another wiki, possibly ours, which has only been a part of Wikia for a few weeks, benefit from the additional exposure. Don't you? Update: I should reclarify my position as it probably came off more selfish and self-serving than intended. I think any Wikia wiki other than those featured recently should have the opportunity. We should also come to an agreement as to what exactly is 'recent'. Is that one year, two, or only 6 months? Let me know what you think. Regards, --JamieHari 17:29, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

  • My apologies, it actually does say "The following nominees each have been active in the past 30 days, have at least 10 articles, and have not been featured in the last year.", so I suppose it is within the established rules. I withdraw my concern. :-) --JamieHari 17:55, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Yeah, the only reason we decided to nominate ourselves again was due to the one year rule that was brought to our attention by GHe. Thank you for your kind words, and I hope you'll be featured in February. =) --Imp 19:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Me too, cheers! --JamieHari 15:50, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Forum:Non-canon material

Hey, Imp...I'm just going through previous voters on Forum:Non-canon material to see if they were aware that there was a 3rd option in the vote, to keep the ambig material and remove the non-canon material? And may I remind you that There Is No Cabal. :) —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 03:45, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Image deletion

I think that the image of the clone trooper on the Commander Valiant page should not be deleted because that may be him. Is it okay that it is from another website? Unsigned comment by Malachor V (talk • contribs)

  • The possibility of it being Valiant is not good enough—it's just speculation. =) Additionally, the image has a Rebelscum watermark, which means they probably have copyrighted the image (not the action figure). --Imp 22:32, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Xanatos.jpg image opinion

You've got a good eye when it comes to images. Can you take a look at File:Xanatos.jpg. I don't want to revert the image back, just because of pride that it was my upload. To my eye, the previous version looks a little clearer and crisper, especially looking at Xanatos' face. I'd like your opinion on it before reverting it back. - JMAS 18:41, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

  • After close inspection, the newer version (Fey'lya's) is of slightly (very slightly) worse quality—the .jpg artifacts are a little bigger. This is probably caused by Fey'lya cropping the image, then resaving it with a higher compression value (the higher compression value, the more artifacts). A compromise would be to simply crop the old version, saving the cropped image with as low compression value as possible. Hope that helps. --Imp 19:36, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
    • I honestly don't see the need for the image to be cropped, so I'll go ahead and revert it. - JMAS 19:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

      • Uhm...I don't mean to be a pest or anything...but I've had nasty experiences with FAs in the past...so I'm really going to have to pursue the Shadow Hunter thing. If you won't be able to do it, that's fine; just means I'll have to find someone else, but I don't want to do that if you're just about to do it yourself. Sorry if this sounds like I'm nagging. .... 23:18, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Good articles versus Great Articles

Not sure if this is too late but you do remember my concept of changing "Good Articles" to "Great Articles", because for some reason, the best articles not being featured had to be better than just good. I mean, good articles would still be below the level of a Great Article, and one of the Great Articles would then be a Featured Article simultaneously for that week. I couldn't find the appropriate forum or talk page to reenact this idea, but you were the primary force behind the restructuring of the system. -- Riffsyphon1024 00:00, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

  • In case you missed this. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:35, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
    • I didn't miss it, I simply haven't responded yet! :P I agree with your "Great Article" idea—it would make the change to an eventual new system to be much smoother. --Imp 06:43, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Fanart Removal

Ok, fair enough - I guess we'll have to wait til Revan appears properly in the comics. You might also like to know that it's been posted on the Darth Revan's holocron page as well (which is why it thought it was ok to use). Apologies. (Ulicus 19:43, 14 December 2006 (UTC))

  • Heh, no problem at all. =) --Imp 19:46, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Wookiee Villager

Hi ! i want to ask you why do you want to delete the article about the Wookiee villager ?i know that are no sources but it have appearances and is no fanon and is from Galactic Battlegrounds game?I'm looking forward for you answer ! --Darth Nospher 13:55, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

  • The reason I want to delete it is because it's not a proper character—it's a game mechanic unit. --Imp 22:22, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

External Links

Hey, could you help me with an external link? I have trouble with those. I would really appreciate it if you could show me how to make one to the Fallston High School page on Wikipedia. For some reason I can't get it. Then if you could show me how to get it to say "high school" and when you click on it, it takes you to The FHS Wikipedia page (like a pipe link, I believe). Thanks a lot. Chack Jadson 14:21, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Just copy this code: [[Wikipedia:Fallston High School|high school]] =) --Imp 14:22, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Corvette Perfect

This is 62.253.128.15 (Not a registered user, just a person with a bit of information). Why do you claim that there is no proof on the CR90 Perfect? I will await your answer here please thankyou Unsigned comment by 62.253.128.15 (talk • contribs)

  • Oh, I'm not claiming there's no proof—I put the verify tag on there so that someone can verify that the Perfect actually appears in the game. This is standard procedure with new articles. But I admit I probably placed the template there because the article was created by you, an unregistered user. Most fanon and vandalism on this site is added by anonymous users, and so we are extremely wary of such contributions. I apologize for judging you like that. --Imp 23:16, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Right Thanks (DO you own the game Star Wars: TIE Fighter Unsigned comment by 62.253.128.15 (talk • contribs)
      • Nope, I do not, but I'll take your word for it being in the game. The verify tag has been removed. =) --Imp 23:18, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
        • I Thank you for that. There is also the Frigate Compton (which you also tagged with the same template as the Perfect) that is also in the game, just to let you know. Unsigned comment by 62.253.128.15 (talk • contribs)

Neimoidian Transport

Do you have the Game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds as this Neimoidian Transport is where it comes from? I thought somebody could at least expand the article I made. Unsigned comment by 62.253.128.15 (talk • contribs)

  • Ah, sorry. No, I don't own the game. Are you sure it's not referred to anything more specific than "Neimoidian Transport"? --Imp 21:36, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Imp, I do own the game, and I believe what he's referring to plays the role of the Cargo Hovercraft for the Trade Federation Faction. The developers weren't so great at giving wonderful backstories to their creations, unfortunately. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 23:34, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
      • No, that's the Neimoidian trader. The Neimoidian transport is produced at airbases, and it's a sort of aerial troop transport. I thought I'd already done multi-views and written up an article for it, but I guess not yet... Enochf 23:39, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

NEGTC Project

Ah Imp. Good to hear from you again. How is the Lando project coming along? The YV War part should be done- as usual, the EU didn't use him much, which is a waste, IMO. I think the only thing left is Planet of Twilight and the Marvel stuff. On the plus side, I now have the NEGTC and the NEC, so I can actually help more. :-P Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 05:46, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Asajj-sideshow.jpg

Does this image go against Wookieepedia guidelines? Granted, I did add the glowing lightsaber effect, but the image is otherwise unaltered. Is there any reason this shouldn't be allowed to be used in the Asajj Ventress article? It keeps getting removed on the basis that it is fan-altered, yet comic images with text bubbles whited out are allowed and they are technically fan-altered also. - JMAS 01:20, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

  • I notice there are other images that have been fan-modified with a lightsaber effect that are used in articles. - JMAS 13:49, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
    • I'm not a fan of it, but I think the usage of fan-altered images in other articles sets a precedent that allows the Asajj image to be used. There is no official guideline or policy on fan-altered images, so until then, using this image is technically allowed. --Imp 14:58, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
      • Thanks for your answer. - JMAS 15:12, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Image deletion

TIE Pilot.jpg has about 20 duplicate previous uploads taking up space from when the new user who uploaded them didn't understand that he didn't need to keep reuploading the pic every time he edited his UserPage. • Thanks for bringing that to my attention. =) --Imp 16:38, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
    • It would be a good idea to check all of the pictures Paleontologist.piczo has uploaded. I think there's a few more instances of them uploading the same picture repeatedly. -- I need a name (Complain here) 16:40, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
      • No problem =). I need a name is right too. I don't think this is only image uploaded multiple times by Paleontologist.piczo. I just noticed this one because I replaced it with a larger version. - JMAS 16:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Main Page version 3

How much majority is needed for the new main page to "pass"? And if it doesn't meet that requirement, is there a way it can be set up in user preferences so that those who wanted the new page, version 3 is what is displayed for them, and the current version for those that don't want it? - JMAS 05:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Marvel image

Regarding File:Sunnchildefalcon.jpg, I tried scanning the panel from the ALTA volume, but I think it curves into the spine too much. Luke Skywalker Exile

A change was made to the Legacy era history of Luke's article. It says that in Exile

" Luke would later learn of Lumiya's survival from their duel on Roqoo Depot and confronted her again. Lumiya offers to surrender to him. Luke is dubious and he says that he wishes she'd just give herself up to the Jedi so that she can be redeemed. There's a moment when they duel but Luke uses one hand on his lightaber and doesn't exert himself. Finally, she just deactivates her whip and says that Luke could kill her at any time that he wanted to while Luke says 'yes.' Luke also says that he doesn't want to kill her, never has and if chooses to then it'll only be because she's a never ending and continuing threat to his family. Lumiya is rather horrified to find that Luke still cares about her and doesn't hate her at all despite all she's done to him. That's when Lumiya's plan goes off that she lured Luke there so she could crash a Freighter into the location in order to kill them both in a suicide gambit. At that point, Luke escapes once more."

Is this Canon? This change was not labled as a Spoiler as it should have been. Unsigned comment by Darth Bogan616 (talk • contribs)

Well then why don't you merge thermal exhaust port with Death Star I? The article should remain separate. --Darth Exekor 23:14, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes, why don't we merge thermal exhaust port with Death Star I? I apologize if I came off as rude by placing that template there. Keep in mind that it's merely a suggestion, and should not be taken as an order or anything. Let's continue the discussion over at the article's talk page. Oh, and welcome to Wookieepedia! =) --Imp 23:17, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
    • You weren't being rude. I was just trying to back up my case. You can merge the article with Executor. Oh, and I put the template on Thermal exhaust port. --Darth Exekor 23:20, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
