Premium-FeaturedTopic

This page is for Featured topic nominations. A Featured topic is a collection of status articles closely related to a single topic. The purpose of Featured topics is to offer readers the ability to easily peruse a topic while making sure all the articles they are reading are of the highest possible quality.

The topic nomination process is not a way to showcase your favorite articles, but rather articles that are of high quality and closely related. Topics placed on this page will be extensively reviewed by members of the Inquisitorius, AgriCorps, and EduCorps review boards, as well as other members of the community. The nomination process will require the topic nominator to respond to objections and improve the topic until the requisite number of users supports the nomination.

In undertaking a nomination on this page, the nominator is taking responsibility for their nominated topic. This means they need to thoroughly read the following instructions, implement them into their nominated topic, and respond to given objections. Nominators are encouraged to ask more experienced editors for guidance and assistance. However, it is not inherently the job of reviewers to restructure elements of nominated topics, but rather to guide nominators to be able to fix issues themselves. The community is here to help you grow in this regard.

A Featured topic must…

  1. …have either a topic article that is a status article with at least four other closely-related status articles that are also linked on the topic's article, or a topic category with at least 20% of the category's articles within the relevant continuity being status articles. Featured topics based on a category must contain at least five articles. NOTE: An existing Featured topic will lose its status if it dips below the five status article minimum. A topic based on a category will lose its status if it dips below the 20% or five-article threshold for the category.
  2. …have only current status articles within the proposed topic. NOTE: An article will be removed from all relevant topics if it loses its status.
  3. …not include broad or general topics (such as water or death) unless directly related to the main topic.
  4. …contain only in-universe articles from within the same continuity. If there is a comparable topic in the opposite continuity, a link to that topic should be provided at the bottom of the topic's template.
  5. …contain at least two unique articles from any existing Featured topic, including the main topic article for non-category-based topics.
  6. …be structured logically in a way that is easy to navigate, and the articles in each section of the topic template should generally be listed in alphabetical order, with potential exceptions (e.g. orbital positions of planets, chronology of organization leaders or events, etc.).

How to nominate:

  1. Select a topic that meets the above criteria and create a new page by typing the topic article or category name into the box below and clicking "Create new topic." Topics are named either after the main topic article or the topic category. Follow the instructions in the template above the edit box.
  2. Fill out the {{FTnom}} template on that page using the instructions on the template page.
  3. Add {{/Topic name}} to the bottom of the Featured topic nominations page.
  4. Each user shall be limited to two active Featured topic nominations at any given time. Any additional nominations will be subject to immediate removal.

How to review:

  1. Featured topic reviews are done by both regular users and members of the three review boards.
  2. Objections to the nomination should be addressed by the nominator in a timely manner. If an objection is left idle for a week, the nomination will be considered unsuccessful.
  3. Objections should not be regarding the quality of the individual articles in the topic, but about the topic overall, such as status articles relevant to the topic that are missing from the template or poor formatting of the template.
  4. If a topic receives five support votes, with no fewer than three support votes coming from review board members, it will be considered successful. A Featured topic nomination must remain active for a week before it can pass.
  5. If a topic passes, a template will be created using {{FTnom}} at "Template:Featured topic-Topic name."

All nominations will be considered idle and are subject to immediate removal by review board vote if objections are not addressed after a period of 1 week.

Fred strikes back
  • I feel like there are several status articles on space stations in the sector that could also be given a section in the topic.
  • The articles are not listed alphabetically. Master FredceriqueCommerce Guild(talk) (he/him) 20:23, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
