The Imperial Remnants were founded with the dream of restoring the Galactic Empire.

Imperial Remnant was an ambiguous term during the time of the New Republic Era in relation to the various Imperial holdout remnants that emerged from the Galactic Empire. Some, like Hera Syndulla, used the term to define the remnants collectively as a single entity, while others, like Hamato Xiono, disagreed with her use of “Imperial Remnant” as an organizational term.[1]

These included factions, states, fiefdoms, holdouts, and warlords that remained after the dissolution of the Empire in 5 ABY, as well as those that emerged after the apparent death of Emperor Palpatine at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY. These factions, some of which existed in the years following the Galactic Civil War, included:

Post-Endor Imperial Remnants

After the apparent demise of Emperor Palpatine, several factions and territories split away from the greater Empire, while others fell to infighting for influence and control in the power vacuum left by the Emperor's fall, fracturing and fragmenting the Empire across the galaxy.

New Republic Era Imperial Remnants

After the civil war ended and the Empire was dissolved, several successor states and holdouts remained across the galaxy, some of which would settle for peace with the New Republic, while others took up arms against the new government.
