"Morak? There's nothing on Morak."
"It's a secret Imperial mining hub, okay?"
―Din Djarin and Migs Mayfeld[2]

Morak was a jungle planet located in Wild Space on the edge of the Outer Rim Territories inhabited by humans as well as members of the Shydopp species. The planet served as a secret mining hub for the Galactic Empire, which processed rhydonium in a secret refinery, which was tightly guarded by shoretroopers and stormtroopers.

Description

Morak was a terrestrial planet[5] located in an eponymous star system in Wild Space, situated at the coordinates H-18 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The world featured rainforests and with mountains, valleys, and bodies of water.[4] In Morak's ground were meagre deposits of rhydonium, a valuable and highly volatile mineral.[5] The world's Type I atmosphere[3] was breathable to at least humans and Shydopps.[2]

History

"Empire, New Republic. It's all the same to these people. Invaders on their land is all we are."
―Migs Mayfeld to Din Djarin[2]

Morak was a largely unknown planet. After the fall of the Galactic Empire, some of its remnants continued to occupy the planet in hopes of rebuilding military forces. The Imperial forces there ran a secret mining operation, extracting rhydonium[5] and transporting it by HCVw A9.2 juggernaut transport to an Imperial refinery ran by former officers of the Empire's Imperial Security Bureau.[2] Valin Hess, an Imperial general, was also present at the refinery.[4] As Morak was outside the jurisdiction of the New Republic, which controlled much of the galaxy, the government largely ignored the Imperial presence there.[6] However, a group of native Shydopp pirates fought against the Imperial presence there.[4]

In 9 ABY,[7] a mercenary group led by the Mandalorian Din Djarin travelled to Morak, intending to use an Imperial terminal to locate the cruiser of Moff Gideon. They were led there by Migs Mayfeld, a former Imperial sharpshooter Migs Mayfeld who had formerly served under Hess.[2]

In their escape, Mayfeld fired Boba Fett's cycler rifle at the shipment of rhydonium, setting off an explosion that destroyed the refinery. During the destruction of the refinery, there were multiple Imperial officers and other Imperial persons present, including Mayfeld's previous commanding officer Valin Hess, whom Mayfeld shot shortly before the refinery exploded.[2]
