- «Chiss ship is not permitted to release shuttle. Repeat: Chiss ship will not release shuttle. Ambassador of Chiss not welcome to Urchiv-ki, nor to her planets or space.»
- ―An Urchiv-ki traffic controller
The Urch system was located in the Unknown Regions and contained the planet Urch, which was the homeworld of the sentient Urchiv-ki species and the capital of its Tower Dimension government.[1] It was situated in grid square F-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[2] The Tower Dimension's Urch Planetary and Space Control monitored space traffic around Urch.[1] In 19 BBY,[3] the Tower Dimension was subjugated by the hegemony known as the Nikardun Destiny.[1]
At some point after the subjugation, the Chiss Ascendancy sent Ambassador Boadil'par'gasoi, core name "Ilparg," on a diplomatic mission to Urch aboard the Nightdragon man-of-war warship Vigilant. After the starship's arrival, an Urchiv-ki traffic controller refused Ilparg's visit before several Nikardun Destiny–affiliated starships attempted to encircle and capture the Vigilant. The Chiss man-of-war then escaped to hyperspace.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Urch system first appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, written by Timothy Zahn as part of his Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
