The Nightdragon man-of-war was a type of Man-of-war warship utilized by the Chiss Ascendancy's Expansionary Defense Fleet. It was equipped with a hyperdrive and engines, as well as electrostatic barriers for countermeasures. Its armaments included spectrum lasers, plasma spheres, and breachers.[1] The ships' hull was constructed of nyix-alloy,[2] and it was equipped with escape pods.[1]
The type was named for the nightdragon, a creature known to the Chiss.[3] Around 19[4] and 18 BBY,[5] Admiral Ar'alani commanded the Vigilant, a Nightdragon man-of-war and the largest vessel in the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet, as a part of Picket Force Six.[1]

The Nightdragon man-of-war type warship first appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
