A type of troop transport was used by the Galactic Empire.
Description
The troop transport was used to transport Army troopers and stormtroopers alike.
This troop transport was used by the Empire to move their troops, being able to accommodate Imperial Army troopers and stormtroopers alike. One variant featured a dual laser cannon on its front and an open cockpit,[1] whereas another version of the transport appeared more armored and featured a pilot-covering canopy over the cockpit.[2] A variant used on Naboo in the early Imperial Era featured a darker hull and a cargo bay for transporting cargo crates instead of the troop bay.[3]
History
At some point between 18 BBY and 15 BBY, both the troop variant and the cargo variant were used at a bridge on Naboo. These transports were destroyed in a terrorist bombing by radical insurgent Luthen Rael.[3]
Much later in 4 BBY, one of these transports was used by a contingent of the Imperial Army on Mina-Rau. Unit two of the contingent led by Sergeant Stang boarded the transport when they were about to leave, but they were all killed and the transport was destroyed by a missile shot from Cassian Andor in his stolen TIE Avenger.[1]
In 2 BBY, shortly before the Ghorman Massacre, a transport delivered a squad of Imperial security trooper rookies under Sergeant Bloy to Captain Kaido in Palmo on Ghorman in preparation for the event.[2] During the massacre itself, a hijacked transport was used by the Ghorman Front member Samm to ram into the KX-series security droid K-2SO, saving the lives of Cassian Andor and Wilmon Paak. Andor used the transport with K-2SO's remains onboard to flee Ghorman.[4]
Behind the scenes
The troop transport first appeared in the second season of the television series Star Wars: Andor, appearing in the first three-episode arc released on April 26, 2025. The vehicle was originally created for a later part of the season, but was also repurposed as a troop carrier for the Mina-Rau arc, which was shot out of sequence with the rest of the show.[5]
