"Retreat! Back to the ships!"
―First Mate Gunter[3]

A pirate transport was utilized by Captain Brutus' crew during the New Republic Era. Around 9 ABY, a group of pirates led by First Mate Gunter traveled aboard this vessel to the planet Lanupa, where they captured former Captain Silvo to put him on trial upon returning to their frigate.

Characteristics

The transport[1] had a long, elongated body and a hull covered in a mix of a mix of gray, white, and dark-blue panels. The ship featured multiple protruding sections, including wings and engines at the rear, as well as a total of four laser cannons.[2]

History

"Zentin, Silvo, whatever you call him. I'm claiming your bounty."
"[on comms] Where is the cowardly wretch?"
"Here is the coordinates. Now hot about my payment?"
"You'll have your payment when I have Silvo. I'm sending two ships. And keep this quiet."
"I wouldn't dream of breathing a word to anyone. I'll be seeing you. [device beeps]"

The transport amid other vessels on Lanupa

Around 9 ABY,[4] a group of Captain Brutus's pirates led by[2] First Mate[1] Gunter used this starship, along with a smaller one, to travel to the planet Lanupa, where the bounty hunter Pokkit claimed to have spotted the runaway prisoner Silvo,[2] a former crew member and captain.[3] Upon exiting hyperspace, the larger vessel was the first to descend into the atmosphere, with two Lanupan security vessels moving in to flank it en route to[2] the Skull Ridge Mountain Hotel & Spa.[5] As a Lanupan pilot communicated with the transport's crew over radio, the second pirate craft opened fire from behind, destroying both security vessels and clearing the way for the two pirate ships to land near the hotel.[2]

Upon landing, the pirates descended underground in pursuit of Silvo, who was searching for Captain Rennod's Lair alongside the younglings[2] from the Skeleton Crew.[6] After failing to capture him,[2] the crew returned to surface, arresting a few security guards in the process.[3] Back on the landing platform, the pirates apprehended Silvo as he emerged from a ground-embedded access hatch. Just as they were about to escort him to the transport, they spotted an approaching New Republic squadron. When first Mate Gunter ordered a retreat, the crew boarded their ships and blasted off, trying to evade the X-wing starfighters attacking them midair. Although the smaller vessel was destroyed, the larger one managed to escape. Despite sustaining partial damage, it made it back to the frigate, where Silvo was put on trial.[3]

Behind the scenes

The pirate transport debuted in "You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates," the fifth episode of the live-action television series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,[2] which aired on December 24, 2024.[7] Before the premiere, the ship was first portrayed in the official trailer of the series.[8]

  4. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition, SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well. StarWars.com SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
