This bipedal sentient species was distinguished by their mottled orange skin, large foreheads, low, wideset eyes, and lack of visible noses.[1]

Species in the galaxy

In 5 BBY,[2] a member of this species attended a party held at the Chandrilan Embassy hosted by Perrin and Mon Mothma on the planet Coruscant.[3] In 3 BBY, a member of this species attended a Senate Investiture gathering hosted by Davo Sculdun.[4] Later, in 34 ABY,[5] yet another member of this species was seen with Centada Ressad at the Canto Casino in Canto Bight on Cantonica when the Resistance agents Finn and Rose Tico arrived searching for the Master Codebreaker.[1]

This species first appeared in the 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson.[1] This species was designed by concept artist Ivan Manzella,[6] and was one of two species created for The Last Jedi that were referred to by the production code "King 21."[6] One of the silicon bust masks used for this species was modeled by Sophie Rechtberger.[7]

Keeper of the Holocron, Leland Chee, expressed that he did not know why this happened, initially clearing up any confusion by referring to the other species as "King 21" in the official Holocron continuity database, while this one was identified as "K021 species" behind-the-scenes,[8] though he later realized the other species was also listed in the database under "King 36."[9] As of April 1, 2025, this species still did not have a name within Chee's Holocron.[8]
