- "Yes, and sooner than you think. Because after you finish, we're going to go downstairs to the dojo and go a couple of rounds."
"I see. Stick, or unarmed?" - ―Ziara and Thrawn plan to go to the dojo
A dojo was located on[1] the Unknown Regions[2] planet Naporar in the Chiss Ascendancy nation. Located beneath the quarters of Senior Cadet Irizi'ar'alani, core name "Ziara," it was equipped with soft-coat sticks on a weapons rack for combatants to use, as well as lightweight face and chest protectors. The site was layered with a mat with a different texture in its edge to alert a combatant that they were nearing the border.[1]
Sometime between 39 BBY and 37 BBY,[3] Ziara and Cadet Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn" sparred in the dojo using the sticks on the rack. The aim of their bout was for Thrawn to prove he could identify an opponent's weaknesses after studying their art, which he proved after taking a look at the senior cadet's wire sculptures, outmaneuvering her throughout the sparring session.[1]
Behind the scenes
The dojo appeared in Timothy Zahn's 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first volume of The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]

- ↑ In Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, Thrawn joined the Mitth family and was admitted into Taharim Academy around 39 BBY per the reasoning here. The book also establishes that Thrawn spent two years at the academy, meaning he graduated around the year 37 BBY. As Ziara and Thrawn visited the dojo while Thrawn was a cadet, they must have visited the dojo between those two years.
