A ship was owned by a Theelin family during the High Republic Era.[1] Between around 397 BBY and 387 BBY,[2] the family was present on[1] the Expansion Region[3] planet[4] Genetia when the Evereni Ro family was attacked by townspeople. During the attack, two members of the Ro family, the mothers of the cousins Marda and Yana, killed the Theelin family and took their ship. After they escaped, the ship's life-support systems began to fail and the Ros experienced days of hunger and cold.[1]

Eventually, the family was towed by a Hutt trawler to[1] the Hutt Space moon[5] Nar Shaddaa where the Hutts attempted to enslave the Ros.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] as the cousins spoke about Yana's plans to leave the Path of the Open Hand cult they had since joined, Yana mentally recalled their mothers taking the Theelin family's ship and the subsequent events involving it.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Theelin family's ship was mentioned in the 2022 young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Deceit, written by Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase II.[6] Within the novel, the ship was mentioned in a chapter written by Ireland.[7]

  2. 2.0 2.1 The High Republic: Path of Deceit states that members of the Path of the Open Hand receive full membership at the age of fifteen, and also mentions that Marda Ro recently became a full member. As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of Path of Deceit to 382 BBY, Ro must have been born around 397 BBY. The novel also establishes that Yana Ro had been considering leaving the Path for five years, meaning she must have been a member of the Path by 387 BBY. Therefore, the attack on the Ro family must have taken place between 397 BBY and 387 BBY.
