"Sir, sir! X-wings!"
―A Quarren, to Captain Brutus[1]

A Quarren pirate served as a member of Captain Brutus' crew during the New Republic Era.[1] Around 9 ABY,[2] the pirate traveled to the planet Lanupa alongside several companions to capture[1] the runaway prisoner[3] Silvo,[1] a former leader of their gang.[1] After some pirates failed to catch Silvo as he infiltrated a local hotel's underground to locate Captain Rennod's Lair,[4] Silvo suddenly emerged from a ground-embedded access hatch on the landing platform just as the pirates were arresting some[1] Lanupan[5] security officers. After pleading with Gunter not to take him, Silvo attempted to enlist SM-33's help, but the droid was quickly disabled with an ion rifle. As Silvo was escorted to the transport, the Quarren pirate spotted an incoming New Republic squadron of X-wings and alerted the Captain, who immediately ordered a retreat. As the pirates tried to evade enemy starfighter fire in the air, one pirate vessel was destroyed, but the other—despite sustaining partial damage—managed to escape and return to the pirate frigate.[1]

The pirate was an orange-skinned Quarren, a species known for their prominent facial tentacles and two long protrusions extending from either side of their faces,[1] with deep turquoise eyes and hand capped with finned fingers.[6] The individual wore a long, dark-colored coat with matching trousers and a belt cinching the waist. The pirate was equipped with a blaster rifle.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Quarren pirate debuted in "Zero Friends Again," the sixth episode of the live-action television series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,[1] which was aired on December 31, 2024.[7]

  2. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition, SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well. StarWars.com SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
