"It's a Tarinna…a Critonian story vampire. Oh, dear. They feed on people's experiences and memories…and any stories they've been told."
―CR-8R[1]

The Tarinna, also known as Critonian story vampires, were a sentient species that fed on experiences and memories. The cartographer Emil Graf, along with the droids CR-8R and BB-00 and the Kowakian monkey-lizard Noni, encountered a Tarinna in the Lost Library of Nelgenam, who fed on Graf's memories. With the help of his companions, Graf was saved, but had lost the memories of numerous stories he had been told in the process.[1]

Behind the scenes

"This was so much fun, having the chance of creating an original SW character from scratch."
―David M. Buisán, on designing the Tarinna[4]

Tarinna, albeit unidentified, first appeared in "The Lost Stories, Part 2," a comic story included in the thirty-first issue of the comic book series Star Wars Adventures, which was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by David M. Buisán, and published by IDW Publishing[5] on March 18, 2020.[6] The species was later given the name Tarinna and Critonian story vampire in the next issue.[1] According to Buisán, the species design was inspired by Masters of the Universe franchise, as well as a nod to the Anzati species in Star Wars Legends.[4]

Feels very MOTU Hordak inspired, love the bandoliers combined with the layered tunic, gauntlets and cloak too. A story vampire is like the worst thing for Emil lmao. Perfect feast for him though.")
