- "They were scrapping with Jays, Zeetar. Out near Soola."
- ―A Crolute Nihil, to Zeetar, on Keeve Trennis and Terec
Soola was an astronomical object located in the Soola system of the Outer Rim's Khuiumin sector. In 231 BBY, the Jedi Order staged a skirmish near Soola so it could infiltrate the Nihil pirates and discover its leader's identity.
In 228 BBY, Soola became located within the Nihil's territory, known as the Occlusion Zone, after it had expanded its Stormwall hyperspace barrier. Later that year, the Occlusion Zone was dissolved following the Stormwall's fall.
Description
Soola was an astronomical object located in the Soola system[4] within the Khuiumin sector of[3] the Outer Rim[1] and Trailing Sectors.[2] It was situated in grid square O-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]
History
The Jedi Order staged a skirmish near Soola so Keeve Trennis (right) and Terec (left) could infiltrate the Nihil.
In 231 BBY,[5] during the High Republic Era, the Jedi Order planned to infiltrate the Nihil pirates in order to discover the identity of their leader, staging a skirmish near Soola so that[4] the Jedi Knights[6] Keeve Trennis and Terec could be rescued by the Nihil and subsequently go undercover. After a Nihil starship successfully extracted the two Jedi's ship from the skirmish and transported it to[4] the Outer Rim planet Xais,[7] a Crolute Nihil informed[4] the Talpini Tempest Runner[6] Zeetar that Trennis and Terec had been fighting Jedi near Soola.[4]
The following year, the Nihil created the Occlusion Zone—a region of space located behind the Stormwall barrier that prevented hyperspace travel into the region.[6] In 228 BBY,[8] the Nihil expanded the Stormwall after a failed Republic and Jedi assault on the barrier,[9] which resulted in Soola falling within the Nihil's territory.[1] Later that year,[10] the Nihil surrendered to the Republic following the Stormwall's fall, which dissolved the Occlusion Zone as a territory. The worlds of the Occlusion Zone,[11] which included Soola,[1] were welcomed back into the Republic if they wished. However, some opted to retain their independence, while others remained under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[11]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As
Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic: Defy the Storm between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
