Sluis Van was an astronomical object in the southern region of the galaxy's[5] Outer Rim Territories[1] and Western Reaches,[3] along the Rimma Trade Route, in square M-19 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It provided ships to Seswenna's Outland Regions Security Force prior to the Clone Wars.
History
In 229 BBY[6], Sluis Van was engulfed by the expanded Stormwall and lost contact with the Galactic Republic.[7]
Count Dooku later turned both Sluis Van and Yag'Dhul over to the side of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[5]
During the Clone Wars, Sluis Van was represented in the Separatist Senate by Aguth Omak. When Omak died, the Pau'an Tychon Nulvolio took over his seat.[8]
In the first year of the Galactic Empire, Sluis Van was one of the former Separatist Worlds to be integrated into the Galactic Empire on Separatist Reintegration Day.[8]
Behind the scenes
Sluis Van was first canonically mentioned in the 2014 novel Tarkin, written by James Luceno.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Sluis Van first appeared in Timothy Zahn's 1991 novel Heir to the Empire, the first book in The Thrawn Trilogy.[9] Zahn named it after his friend Don Vandersluis.[10]
