- "You must've seen the entire galaxy."
"Almost."
"How was it?"
"Amazing. The sinking city of Kuratow, the Persaya cliffs. This galaxy suffers, but there is still beauty." - ―Cal Kestis and Merrin
The sinking city of Kuratow was a city[3] in the[2] Kuratow system of the Expansion Region's Brevost sector.[1] The Nightsister Merrin visited the city while traveling the galaxy after separating from the crew of the luxury yacht Stinger Mantis[3] between 12 BBY and 11 BBY.[4] In 9 BBY,[5] she mentioned the city and the Persaya cliffs when catching up with her former crewmate Cal Kestis on the moon Jedha, describing her travels as amazing and the sinking city as beautiful.[3]
Behind the scenes
The sinking city of Kuratow was mentioned in the 2023 Respawn Entertainment video game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.[3]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Sinking city of Kuratow in relation to the Kuratow system.
