Sikurdian privateers was a group of privateers[1] originating from the Sikurd system[1][2] in the Outer Rim Territories.[3] that consisted of members of the Sikurdian species. They were affiliated with the Corporate Alliance and later the naval forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, an organization that took the Alliance as a subsidiary while fighting against the Galactic Republic in the Clone Wars. During the war, the privateers supported Fantail-class destroyers in defending the planet Murkhana, the Corporate Alliance's headquarters.[1]

Behind the scenes

Sikurdian privateers were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Sikurdian privateers, also referred to as the Sikurdian pirates, were introduced in The Essential Guide to Warfare, a 2012 reference book authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[4]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Sikurdian privateers in relation to Sikurd system.
