Scri Oscuro was the High Priest of the religious cult Zealots of Psusan. He used his position in the cult to hide his illegal ventures, though this led to a bounty being placed on his head. The bounty was claimed by the bounty hunter Kalyn Farnmir and her partner Cian Shee, whom the High Priest employed in his unsuccessful revenge plot against Farnmir.
Biography
Scri Oscuro plotted vengance against Kalyn Farnmir (pictured).
Scri Oscuro was a criminal[2] and the corrupt[3] High Priest of the Zealots of Psusan,[1] a fast-growing[4] female-empowering[5] religious[6] cult, prior to the start of the Clone Wars[1] in 22 BBY.[7] Oscuro used his position of spiritual influence as a front for illegal ventures. After discovering the truth, several former cult members placed a bounty on his head. The bounty was claimed by the bounty hunter Kalyn Farnmir and[1] the slicer[3] Cian Shee, and the cult leader was placed in prison, from which he attempted to use his congregation contacts to get vengeance on the pair.[1] Through a hefty sum[3] of credits, he was able to lure Shee into his revenge plan.[1]
On[3] the planet[8] Coruscant in 22 BBY,[9] Farnmir was notified of the plot by an informant, causing her to arrange a meeting with Shee at the Outlander Club,[3] a gambling hall and nightclub in the planet's Uscru Entertainment District.[10] Farnmir arrived first and interrogated the cultist Nyrat Agira, who confirmed that Oscuro had done dealings with her partner and that he was on Coruscant. When Farnmir and Shee eventually left the club together, the bounty hunter tried to capture the slicer, but she was able to flee. Shee called off her deal with Oscuro, knowing that her former partner would expect an ambush.[3]
Behind the scenes
Scri Oscuro was first mentioned in the StarWars.com Databank entry for Kalyn Farnmir, which was written by Hyperspace member Benjamin Christopher Norton Dawe through the website's "What's the Story?" feature.[3] The entry was posted alongside the second round of entries written though the feature on September 30, 2005.[11] The character's name is derived from "scry," which means to predict the future using a crystal ball, and "oscuro," which in the Spanish or Italian languages means dark or obsure.[12]
Scri Oscuro's name is misspelled "Sri Oscuro" in Cian Shee's entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, a 2008 reference book written by Stephen J. Sansweet and Pablo Hidalgo.[13] The name is spelled correctly, however, in the entries for Oscuro and Nyrat Agira.[1][14]
