- "And Niv Drendow got away, that slippery scampweasel."
- ―Ram Jomaram
A scampweasel was a type of weasel.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] after members of the Jedi Order and Republic Defense Coalition failed to capture the Nihil scientist Niv Drendow Apruk on the planet Mynos III, Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram commented on Apruk's escape to Jedi archivist Lyssa Votz, comparing him to a slippery scampweasel.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, a scampweasel was mentioned in the 2024 junior novel The High Republic: Beware the Nameless, written by Zoraida Córdova and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, a scampweasel was mentioned in The Last of the Jedi: Secret Weapon, a 2007 junior novel written by Jude Watson as the seventh installment in the Star Wars: The Last of the Jedi series.[4]

As The High Republic: Beware the Nameless takes place one and a half years after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY.
