Sand snakes were fur-covered snakes that were native to Geonosis. Oddly, their eyes and mouth were positioned in the center of their roughly three-meters-long body.
Boba Fett once encountered a sand snake on Geonosis which was being fought over by two massiffs. When Fett came along, they dropped the sand snake for him. He then picked up a piece of mica, a rock as shiny as glass, and threw it at one of the massiffs. The other massiff jumped for Fett, missed, and fell off the cliff at the other side.
A couple of days later, Fett found a sand snake following him, probably the same one he saved.
