- "This is so nice. Would be even better if I had some sake…"
"Want some?" - ―Shogun and the Ronin
Sake,[1] or saké,[3] was a drink potable by humans[1] and Trandoshans.[2] While bathing in a secret hot spring on an astronomical object, the human[1] former Sith[2] known as the Ronin drank sake. He was joined by a Jedi known as Shogun, who remarked that the hot spring was nice, but would be even better if they had some sake. The Ronin offered to share his sake, which Shogun accepted. When the Ronin mentioned one could purify their soul at the Temple of Elujoji, Shogun joked the hot spring and sake were enough to purify them. The Ronin and Shogun drank their sake from cups after pouring it from a bottle with the Aurebesh inscription "sake" in top-bottom, right-to-left orientation.[1]
On the planet Olcatz, a GNK-series power droid served[2] hot sake and oden stew in a mobile gambling hall aboard[3] an AK-BK walker.[4] As the droid walked through the hall, a Trandoshan took a bottle from it. Several Ewoks aboard the walker also served sake.[2]

Concept art by Okazaki for "The Duel: Payback"
Sake first appeared in the non-canon comic Visions 1, written and illustrated by Takashi Okazaki[1] and published by Marvel Comics on October 12, 2022.[5] Sake also appeared in "The Duel: Payback," a short film released as part of the third volume of the non-canon Star Wars: Visions series. The animated short, produced by Kamikaze Douga and ANIMA, was released on Disney+[2] on October 29, 2025. Before the short's release, a video uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube channel on October 27, 2025, used the spelling "saké". Okazaki, who worked as the short's character designer, created concept art of the GNK-series power droid[3] and Ewoks serving sake for the short.[6] In the real world, sake is a type of Japanese alcoholic drink made from fermented rice.[7]
