"Gather as many Knights as you can without raising alarm"
―Vernestra Rwoh, to Mog Adana[2]

Sage Kinzem was a Force-sensitive Zinchorian who was a member of the Jedi Order, ascending to the rank of Jedi Knight around 132 BBY. In that year, soon after making Knight, they were one of the Jedi sent to the planet Brendok. Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh, who led the group, took them to a fortress on the planet. In the fortress' courtyard, the team discovered the dead body of Jedi Master Sol, after which Rwoh sent the other Jedi, including Kinzem, to search the nearby area.

History

"Set up a five-klick perimeter. They couldn't have gone far."
―Vernestra Rwoh, to Jedi including Sage Kinzem[2]

Sage Kinzem was a Force-sensitive Zinchorian who served the Jedi Order.[1] Around 132 BBY,[3] Kinzem passed their Jedi Trials and ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight.[1] Later, in that year,[3] the Zinchorian was conversing with[4] the Dokora Jedi Cantu Fallum[1] and a human in a hallway of a spaceport in the Jedi Temple on[4] the planet[5] Coruscant. During the group's conversation, the Mirialan Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh walked past them on her way to depart to the planet Khofar with a team assembled by the human[4] Padawan Mog Adana[1] to investigate a distress signal sent by the Jedi Master Sol after his team died.[4]

Soon after, Sol was discovered to be on the planet Brendok. When Adana informed Rwoh of Sol's location,[2] she instructed him[1] to assemble as big a group of Jedi as possible without raising alarm. Kinzem was one of the Jedi chosen by Adana. Having travelled to the planet aboard the starship[2] Cantaros[1] along with the rest of the Jedi, Kinzem disembarked from the ship upon arrival to Brendok. They followed Rwoh to an abandoned fortress, where the Mirialan Jedi Master opened the entrance using the Force. The Jedi, including Kinzem, entered the fortress and made their way into its courtyard, where the group noticed the dead body of Sol, killed earlier by his former Padawan Osha Aniseya.[2]

While Kinzem was looking around the courtyard, Rwoh ordered two Jedi to search the premises. As they shifted their focus on the Jedi Master, she ordered the rest of the group—including Kinzem—to set up a five-kilometer perimeter to find the other individuals present. The Jedi split up into three groups, with Kinzem turning around to return to the fortress using the entrance through which they got into the courtyard. The groups reunited in the forest outside of the fortress, where Fallum handed Aniseya's satchel to the Tynnan tracker Bazil, who then led the group towards Aniseya. At some point on their way towards Aniseya, Bazil and the Jedi broke into a run until they reached a bunta tree, finding only Aniseya's twin sister Mae Aniseya, whose memory had been erased. Afterward, during a tribunal with senators from the Galactic Republic's Senate, Rwoh reported that Sol's corpse was found in the fortress to answer a question regarding the Jedi Master's fate, speculating he took his own life.[2]

Personality and traits

Sage Kinzem had light skin on their face, with their skin on their neck and rest of their head having a gray-blue coloration typical for members of their species when outside of their native methane atmosphere. They sported dark blue facial tattoos and their hair was dark brown[1] with some strands of a gray-blue color similar to their skin. Kinzem wore their hair in a braid that forked at the end.[2] The Zinchorian had brown eyes and their horns were black.[1]

Powers and abilities

As a Force-sensitive, Kinzem was able to wield the Force. Mog Adana regarded Kinzem to be a competent investigator, placing them on his list of effective Jedi investigators.[1]

Equipment

While in the spaceport,[4] and on the mission to Brendok,[2] Kinzem wore golden and light-yellow Jedi robes with a light-brown undertunic[1] and brown pants. They also donned a brown cloak, and tall boots. The Jedi Knight also kept a lightsaber on their brown belt,[2] which featured the Jedi Order's insignia.[1]

Behind the scenes

Sage Kinzem first appeared, albeit unidentified, in "Teach / Corrupt,"[4] the sixth episode of the live-action Disney+ series The Acolyte, which released on July 2, 2024,[6] The individual was later identified as Sage Kinzem in Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, a reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo and published in 2025.[1]
