Sabata was a celestial body[5] located in the Sabata system of the Halla sector, a part of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Slice.[2] It was situated in grid square R-9 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and was the homeworld of[4] the sentient Sabat species,[3] including the resistance fighter Leevan Tenza.[5]
Behind the scenes
Sabata was first mentioned on a map[6] designed by Christopher Ibbitt[7] that was created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[8] on May 27, 2022[9] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[10] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[11] The 2024 reference book Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy subsequently established Sabata as a distinct celestial body.[5]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats Sabata as one such homeworld with regard to the Sabat species.
