"You sure you can fly this thing?"
"My sister taught me."
―Welga and Zenny Greylark[1]

The Redemption was a diplomatic yacht owned by the Greylark family and utilized by Rina Greylark, senator of the Galactic Republic, during the High Republic Era. When the senator accompanied the Jedi Order and Republic Defense Coalition on a mission to the planet Mynos III, the Redemption was brought aboard the research vessel Innovator. After the Innovator received a distress call from the planet Palagosal, the Redemption was taken by a small team—consisting of Greylark's daughter Zenny Greylark, Jedi Master Ada-Li Carro, Jedi Initiates Kildo, Jamil Sollis, and Tep Tep, and RDC ensign Welga—to investigate. As the yacht approached the planet, it was pursued by strikeships of the Nihil marauders. Piloting the Redemption, Zenny evaded the Nihil; however, the Hutt Churo, attempting to shoot down one of the Nihil starships with a laser cannon, mistakenly struck the Redemption, forcing the occupants to crash-land the yacht.

Description

"Now is probably too late to ask, but tell me this fancy ship has deflector shields?"
"Of course it has deflector shields!"
―Kildo and Zenny Greylark[1]

The Redemption was a small yacht with a crescent shape and a gunmetal color. It was equipped with a hyperdrive and at least two sublight engines. The vessel was also equipped with deflector shields, a navicomputer, and sensors. It possessed landing legs and a boarding ramp. The cockpit of the Redemption featured a viewport that covered the front of the ship, also containing controls for a pilot and copilot. The controls featured a screen and the ability to reroute power, and the yacht possessed alarms that would activate when it sustained damage. A lounge, situated behind the cockpit, could fit at least 4 passengers. The vessel possessed diplomatic clearances.[1]

History

Redirection

"I will lead the younglings and Zenny to answer the distress call on Palagosal. The remaining Jedi and RDC will continue to Mynos Three. Senator Greylark, might we use your ship for the expedition?"
"Of course. Zenny is the most familiar with my ship. At least take an RDC peacekeeper with you. Strength in numbers."
―Ada-Li Carro and Rina Greylark[1]

Zenny Greylark, who frequently borrowed the Redemption, piloted the yacht to Palagosal.

During the High Republic Era, the Redemption was owned by the Greylark family on[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Coruscant. Rina Greylark, a senator in the Galactic Republic, used the yacht as a diplomatic vessel. Lexi Greylark and Zenny Greylark, Rina's daughters, often borrowed the family ship, and Lexi taught her sister to fly the craft. On the first occasion that Zenny borrowed the Redemption, she was eventually caught by Coruscant patrols.[1] In 228 BBY,[3] when Rina accompanied the Republic Defense Coalition and Jedi Order on a mission to the Outer Rim planet Mynos III aboard the Elite-class research vessel Innovator, the Redemption was kept in the larger vessel's hangar as it departed Coruscant. After the crew discovered that Zenny had stowed away on the Innovator in hope of finding her missing sister and the Jedi Initiates Kildo, Jamil Sollis, and Tep Tep had mistakenly been aboard as it had taken off, the RDC ensign Welga suggested they take the Redemption back to Coruscant, though they were ultimately permitted to remain.[1]

After the Innovator picked up a distress call from the Arkanis sector planet Palagosal, Jedi Master Ada-Li Carro decided to lead the younglings on a mission to investigate, requesting to use Senator Greylark's vessel. The senator agreed, and Carro, Kildo, Sollis, Tep Tep, and Zenny—accompanied by Welga—boarded the Redemption. With Welga as her copilot, Zenny flew the yacht out of the Innovator's hangar and jumped to hyperspace on a course for Palagosal. The Redemption emerged before a field of starship debris, and Zenny began to maneuver the yacht through the wreckage. The yacht was soon approached by two strikeships of the Nihil marauders, leading Greylark and Welga to take evasive maneuevers. Greylark dived the Redemption toward Palagosal, but the quantity of debris proved too much for her to avoid. As wreckage began to strike the viewport, Carro, assisted by the Jedi younglings, used the Force to move the debris aside, clearing a path toward the planet.[1]

Resolution

Kildo: "Shouldn't we be flying away from the cannon fire?"
Sollis: "I'm new to this, but these alarms sound like we can't take another hit!"
Greylark: "We won't!"
―Kildo, Jamil Sollis, and Zenny Greylark, as the latter maneuvers between the two Nihil[1]

When Greylark ignored the Nihil's hails, the maruader vessels fired on the Redemption, though the Nihil's fire was deflected by the yacht's shields. Zenny turned the Redemption into a spinning motion, but the yacht's starboard, including one of its thrusters, sustained damage. As the younglings panicked and Welga rerouted power to the yacht's remaining engines, Greylark flew the Redemption in an arc that left it between the two Nihil ships. With one of the maruaders behind, Greylark locked on to the Nihil ahead of them. As one of the Nihil fired, Greylark changed course at the last second, leading the marauder to strike their comrade. The remaining Nihil continued to give chase, and Greylark flew the Redemption into Palagosal's atmosphere and toward the volcanic rock spires that rose from the planet's ocean. Greylark swerved between the maze of spires, but the Nihil vessel continued to close on the yacht.[1]

After Tep Tep noticed a large salini serpent emerging from the water, Greylark flew the Redemption toward it. She managed to narrowly avoid the reptilian creature as it leapt from the ocean, but the Nihil vessel was caught in its jaws. However, the other Nihil craft, despite its previous damage, began to catch up to the Redemption once more. Welga directed Greylark to a nearby cliff on Palagosal's Northeast Archipelago, hoping to land and face the Nihil in combat, and Greylark flew toward the area as fast as the yacht was capable. The young Hutt Churo, on the ground, attempted to fire a laser cannon at the Nihil to assist the Redemption, but instead mistakenly struck the Republic yacht. With the yacht sustaining heavy damage, Greylark steadied the ship for a crash landing.[1]

The Redemption hit the ground and bounced twice before coming to rest on an angle, one of its landing legs bent and its boarding ramp unable to fully lower. Kildo utilized his lightsaber to cut the hinge and release the ramp, and the yacht's crew disembarked, meeting the Hutt and heading for the nearby Tortle Cove Outpost. When the Nihil member Haze Delik—who had waited at a distance as the other marauders pursued the Redemption—landed on Palagosal, she headed for the crash site and examined the yacht. Delik noted that the Redemption was not beyond repair, noticing the lightsaber cut on the ramp and recognizing it as the work of a Jedi weapon. After the conclusion of the mission on Palagosal, the Redemption's former occupants departed the planet aboard the Innovator.[1]

Commanders and crew

"Fly steady, young Greylark. Leave the rest to me."
―Ada-Li Carro, to Zenny Greylark[1]

The Redemption was owned by Senator Rina Greylark, who utilized it as a diplomatic vessel. During the mission to Palagosal, the yacht was piloted by Zenny Greylark, with Ensign Welga as her copilot. Master Ada-Li Carro and Jedi younglings Kildo, Jamil Sollis, and Tep Tep traveled aboard the Redemption, and used the Force to clear debris as Zenny flew the yacht toward the planet.[1]
